My Manx will not let anyone touch his "oversized" paws...I have tried everything and need some advice. I even sent for the "Klaw Kontrol Bag"
http://www.klaw-kontrol.com/ but just got tore up attempting to get him into the bag. I will have to have it professionally done I guess. Does anyone have any advice on claw trimming...or Manxs' for me...please? I found that I can comb/brush him when he eats...he will stand still for that...no touching the paws though...thanx. Michael

I do the stop, plop, and roll method. I lay out a large towel on the floor, plop cat on towel, roll up in towel leaving 1 paw out at a time, works good for giving meds too

Good Lord, if I put any one of my cats in that bag, I wouldn't have a hand left!

I have ferals and strays, and this is my method. I start when they first arrive here and then as they grow older they are just used to it.

It is a slow process, it is one of allowing them the privilege to getting used to a new thing. Cats do not like their paws messed with, some cats are ticklish. So this is what I do.

Treats in my pockets.
Cat is sleeping
Sit by the cat, start petting the cat just a few times
Take the paw, don't grab it, just place it in the palm of your hand (cat will jerk it away)
Repeat by taking the paw and laying it in the palm of your hand, again don't grab the paw or clasp it. Don't raise it at an unnatural angle, just let it rest in your hand.
When the cat doesn't jerk it away-feed a treat
Do the same with the other paws, one at a time
Don't get frustrated, just work slow.If you find yourself becoming frustrated, quit and walk away.

Once the cat allows you to hold the paw the next step is to gently hold the paw. Don't squeeze, just hold

Then after that is successful you want to be able to spread the toes apart- again do this slowly don't get frustrated and treat the cat when it does good.

Show the cat nail trimmer to the cat then slowly and gently start taking off the bare tip of the nail. Have a septic pencil with you in case you cut the quick and the cat bleeds.

All the time you are doing this, messing with the paws, don't make direct eye contact with the cat. I sing to them, because most of these guys were bottle raised by me, and I sing to them when I feed. It is their comfort song-

LOL.That is what I was thinking.
I would think that if a cat would actually tolerate getting put into that bag, then they would be good enough to trim the nails sans bag.LOL.
