I've just ordered a chiminea for the garden, I thought it might be fun. I'm a little concerned about Oz and his friends getting too nosey with it.

Has anyone else got one? and do you have any problems?

I would love to get one. They have small ones that you can get as well that you put the 3 wick candles in.

I think once the cats check it out a few times they will lose interest in it (like everything else that doesn't move lol). Keep an eye on them the first time? I'm going to assume that when you light it you'll be close by anyway. Could you put something over the mouth of it so they don't crawl inside?
Just an idea.

theres not much room for a cat to crawl into coz of the grills and like a bbq i assume you'd stand near it to watch the food?

the only thing i'd be scared of is if they climbed on it (like on the chimney)and it was too hot.

we have a heated cupboard in our dining room (can't remember what they are called) to keep food warm before its served and Maverick crawled in there once and burnt her paws!

My parents have a chiminea. It's smaller than Maverick's, though. No grill or anything. Sort of like an outdoor fireplace. One of the cats there, Zoey, is outside pretty much ALL the time, and there's never been a problem. I think that if you supervise it when it's hot, especially when it's new, you shouldn't have any trouble. But of course, I'm sure you already know not to leave it unattended. Good luck!
