Do you use your cell phone for text messaging??? Susan and I were just discussing it, and I told her no one I know does that here. I'm sure some of us do, but not me anyway. Heck, I wouldn't know where to begin. How about the rest of you?

I receive them, but either I don't know how to send them or the Nextel model I have doesn't have that feature.

I used to when I had a T-Mobile phone... it was easy to. But I only ever texted like one person. And it was usually when I was bored in class.

Sprint makes it ridiculously hard to text anyone so I don't.

My dinosaur does not have the capability, but I don't think I miss it. Everyone I know has cell phones, but I don't notice anyone texting, so I hunch it's not as popular here as it is some places. I don't know that for a fact, though.

A lot of people I know here in Los Angeles do it. I don't have a cell phone, right now, so I don't, and when I did have a cell phone, I wouldn't do it, because text messages are an extra charge. Cell Phones are too expensive with just basic service. I don't have that kind of money to spend. I'd rather talk to people anyway.

However, I think it's a pretty popular thing to do. At least here in LA it is.

Oh yeah! People here do it all of the time. Over summer when all of my old friends are back in Ormond we're always texting each morning about who's going to the beach and what not. The rest of the year I pretty much just text to Brendan and a couple of my good friends. Most people use it here though.

I do once in a while. I text my sister and my friend who's at Basic Training right now. I think I did 20 text messages and it cost $2.

I send text messages about 90% of the time, because I have trouble using any phone other than our home phone, which has an amplifier (I'm hearing-impaired). My cell phone also has an amplifier, but it's embarrassing using it in public (too loud, apparently). My boss and my in-laws don't know how to check for text messages (although I've shown them numerous times), so I have to call them. Text messaging ("SMS") is extremely popular in Germany, and probably accounts for about 75% - 80% of all cell phone use. It's much cheaper than calls. One thing I've found is that calling doesn't always work when you're traveling, even if you have a tri-band or quad-band phone, but text messages can be sent and received without any difficulty. I love email, faxes, and text messages, because I can communicate from afar, something that was extremely difficult for me in the past.
