ok, so I have been around cats pretty much my whole life, and I have never had one quite like this one!! My cat Lila is like a little possesive stalker when it comes to me. She is always right there with me, follows me into the bathroom, the shower, the kitchen, bedroom, onto the couch...you name it, if i go, so does she. I think it is funny, but what I don't understand is when she constantly meows at me. She just looks up at me and hold a conversation with me in "meow" when I talk back to her. We could talk back and forth to each other for a good 10 minutes. She has food, water, litter, I pet her, etc. Is she just starved for attention? Does she need a playmate? Another question I have about cats in general: Why are do they jusy lay there one minute, and the next they are running around the house hitting all rooms on all floors of the house at a speed of 1,000 miles per hour? She stops long enough for her to arch her back, fluff out her tail and walk sideways for a minute, (for seemingly no reason, and not AT anyone) but then she takes off again making laps around the house at lightning speed.I think it is funny, but I just wondered why they do this.
thank you!

My cat Penelope sounds a lot like your cat, Lila. She follows me around the apartment and if she feels I'm not paying enough attention to her, she will go in the next room and meow until I come fetch her and pet her or play with her. If my attention lapses, she repeats the process! It can be quite annoying, actually, but I still love her to pieces.

Be aware that some cats are just more vocal than others. I'm convinced Penelope has some Burmese in her because she is sooooo talkative.

Also, my cats' energy levels vary, too. Molly, for example, spends about 80% of the time sleeping but for about 5% of the day she does exactly what you are talking about: sprinting around the apartment and responding to some imaginary "prey" or "predator" -- it's pretty cute!

Your cat is not insane, not possessive, she is a cat. She has bonded with you, therefore you are where she draws comfort from. Some cats are more talkative than others. If she has Siamese in her, they are very vocal. Some cats will follow you anywhere. My friend finally gave up and put a cat door in her bathroom! Saved her from having to open the door all the time for the cats wanting in.

Cats nap, storing up energy then they wake up and zoom around the house, climb the curtains, jump up on high places, because they are cats, not because they are demon possessed- though sometimes I have to wonder...
I would do interactive playtime with your kitty at least three times a day, and if you don't want to create a monster, when she is talking to you, ignore her. When she is quiet, that is the best time to pay attention to her

Picasso does this all the time I meow at him too ,once he gets started he cant seem to stop meowing so I meow back until he gets tired,or confused! Now he runs up to the door when we leave for work and starts screaming...He runs around like a crazy man too ,trying to jump up the walls, running sideways, all that, now we even play hide and seek.Your cat is totally normal even though they are all different.
