before i could do anything, i was lying on my bed last night, i see Marsh picking something off the floor, and a second later, i see it's a 12inch piece of black string i was using to sew my pants, and he's eating it!!! ARG

this guy, i swear, he'll eat anything i drop on the floor and not even flinch

the question is, what do i do? I opened his mouth, but i did't see anything in his throat, he was acting 100% normal last night, and this am. Do i wait for it to pass through? will it get passed or dissolve in his tummy? ... i'm nervous about this

Sting is nothing to "play" with - sorry for the pun. It could wrap itself around the intestins and cut of blood supply. I would call your vet and ask his opinion. Also if he suggests to let it pass - DO NOT try to help it along by pulling on it (this could cause major internal damage.

Good Luck and call the vet to see what he says!!!

I've gone though this a few times with my cat. Keep an eye on kitty. Give him a few doses of hairball treatment (helps move things through). As icky as it is, check the box for poopies. Monitor what kitty is eating and drinking. If your cat vomits call the vet asap.

You might want to do a call to the vet anyway and explain the situation... they can tell you the best thing to do. String really is nothing to play around with.

I agree, it can do great damage and you don't ever pull it out no matter where you see it. Please call your vet and get expert guidance as to the right thing to do and quickly.
