"Soft Paws" claw covers

has anyone used these? do they work well? our new kitty Mittens is not declawed and after having my first cat front declawed...and finding out what they actually did...i refuse to do it again. (i felt soooo bad!! )
right now i'm sure she would try and chew them off but i was thinking in teh future..if for some reason we need to try them out, i wanted to make sure they work...or hear peoples opinions on them.
and since Mittens is a polydactyl...one of the xtra toes she does have is very short and almost hidden. i'm afradi this nail will be troublesome. she will have to get used to us trimming her nails...but i'm afraid these nails curl more and may cause her pain? anyone else have kitties with extra toesies?
how do you deal with trimming them? my first cat Kali is easy to trim her back ones...she is such a good cat with all of the not so fun grooming things

I give my vet $13 and hand the cat to him once a month or so. it's cheaper then paying for skin grafts, and the cat gets used to going to the vet for something non-traumatic (even if it's unpleasant).

I'll move this to Care & Grooming.

I've never used Soft Paws, never had to actually. Ophelia prefers scratching on the things she's supposed to.

My parents are using soft paws on their cat. It works, but they fall off from time to time. Cat actually gets used to them. First you trim the nails, then you glue the soft paws on. It takes 2 people to do it, one person holds the cat, the other person glues the soft paws on.

I've used the Soft Claws brand, which I think might be the same as Soft Paws- little nail covers that you glue on. They worked pretty well for my kitten. I've used them on her once, when staying at my mom's house for a week. They lasted about two months. A couple fell off within two days so I just glued new ones on.
