I went to Petsmart during lunch to load up on food and litter. As I was loading the stuff in my vehicle a man pulled up and took out his adult cat who was on a leash. He proceeded to pull out a shopping cat and put the cat in it. He slowly pushed the cart into the store. The cat was standing up on its hind legs and front paws on the front of the cart leaning forward.
This was so funny-I've seen dogs do this but never a cat. The cat seemed to be enjoying itself-it was a Kodak moment-were is my camera when I need it!!

Goodness that sounds adorable!! We never have cameras ready when we need them, do we? At least no one except my roommate, she seems to have a camera ready at all the right moments.
SOO cute sounding though!

Any guy who loves their cat that much is quite a catch! Your story brought up a question I've been meaning to post on here: Have any of y'all ever taken your cats to PetSmart (whether on a leash and harness or in a carrier)? Wouldn't it be fun to have a day that we declare "TCS Members take their furbabies to PetSmart/PetCo"? Show those dog owners they don't have a jeopardy on taking their pets shopping!

That is adorable. I wish Meish was tolerant enough to go to the store with me. I'd love her input on toys. I guess I don't understand what she likes other than feathers.
She'd leave poo in the cart if she saw a dog.

At least it was a cat.......Amber the Bobcat goes on regular outings!!!!!
I agree though - quite a catch - at least you would know your cat would be extremely well looked after. I wonder if it chooses its own dinner?

I've always wanted to take my cats to Petsmart/Petco but haven't leash trained either of them. Honestly if I ever do, it will probably just be Samwise as he is a much more socialable cat, never has met a stranger while Gandalf runs and hids. This story gives me hope though, maybe I'll have to start harness training Samwise this weekend.

That's so cute, wish I saw it!!

My cats would have panic attacks if I tried that with any of them!

There is no way Eponine would go on a leash/harness either. I don't know how she'd handle going in her carrier (I have one of those soft, purse-like cat carriers), but it'd be fun to try so I can get her input on toys before spending more money on unused toys that just gather dust

It's funny you should write about this today. This afternoon I was walking home from the train station when I saw a frolicking "beagle puppy" in the distance (today was the last day for my disposable contacts, if that's any excuse), pulling its owner along our street, jumping in the air, skidding on the ice, etc.. When I got a little closer, I realized that the "beagle puppy" was a calico cat on a leash. I stopped to talk to her owner, and learned that the woman was visiting relatives here, and that the cat goes for really long walks every day. Jamie goes for a walk every day, but I'm afraid to venture too far from our property.

Hey, I have to try that with Bijou. He goes to the stores with us, Canadian Tire, Grocery Store, Library, Hardware store, etc., but I usually hold him with his harness and leash on and in the carrier pouch. I bet he would love to sit in the cart. I could put my coat in it so it would be easier on his feet. I'm going to try it!

That must have been soooo cute!!!!. I've taken Princess to Pets Mart a couple times but I've always just held her. I've tried to train her to walk on a leash but she can escape from a harness in about 5 seconds. For a while she was happy but she got tired of people coming up to pet her and the attitude began. Princess growls and acts vicious when she isn't getting her way. I won't take Patsy to Pets Mart because I think it could be a tramatic experience for her. She was abandonded there before I got her. I've taken both Princess and Patsy to several other stores though. I was having their pictures taken and the studio was in a department store.

that reminds me of Lexi's (LexiLou) kitties...Sabrina & Samantha

they walk on leashes all the time! she takes them to petsmart for a little outing
When we went to get their pictures taken at the mall, everyone was doing double takes of these two little kitties walking on their leashes!

I wish I would have taken Sheba on outings as she was the most social cat alive. She could have been on the football field during the Super Bowl nothing would have bothered her. I think Bakker would be trainable. I think Grizzly could be but she's so chubby I would be embarrassed to have her seen in public!!

I've only taken my babies in when they were kittens. And I mean young kittens where I can just hold them in my sweater/jacket and they won't move. When I get into showing cats I will definately be taking them to Petsmart so they get used to people walking around and making noise. That must of been so cute!

So cute. I've taken my cats to the pet stores before, they like it more than my dog (who pees all over!)
