Hi
Ok, I know we've spoken about this before, but I think I need more specifics. I had spoken to some people on here about using "crushed corn" as an alternative to "Worlds Best Litter".
The problem is that I can't find the darn stuff. Every feed store I've been to has tried to sell me "Cracked Corn" which still has dried corn kernals in it and look at me silly when I try to explain what I'm looking for. Dad suggested that maybe the grinding level for "Chicken feed" or "Chicken Layer" is different from province to province or even country to country.
Anyone in Ontario have any luck finding some?

I had read about that somewhere and I tried it but I think it was the wrong thing. I got a big bag of crushed corn feed, not sure now exactly what it was but it was ground pretty fine, about the same size of the World's Best Cat litter. Anyway, it stayed in the litter box all of 60 seconds. I put in some water just to see how it would react and it smelled to high heaven and it just sunk down. No Go! So there must be something different. I was sad it didn't work
because it should would have been cheap. Needless to say, the birdies have been quite happy!

I was thinking about giving up said search anyway, because of this stupid lack-of problem. It's not so bad buying the Worlds Best for just Chester, since he's one cat, but my parents were hoping to find a better alternative through me, for the other cats.
My problem is (apart that he's a kitten and shouldn't have clay litter) that I find clay litter too dusty, and had allergic reactions to the ones I bought previously. I still have a coupon for swheat scoop though, and maybe I'll give it a try while chester's still young and not set in his ways.
I'm actually going to bring the bag of cracked corn that I bought over to the OSPCA, they have some ducks and chickens there, and if they dont' want it, we have a marsh conservitory that might want to take it. Worst case senerio, I empty the bag on the side of the road for said birds.
Thanks for the heads up!
Jess
