I'm sure this DOES NOT have anything to do with my Mom's nationality, which is Polish by the way, but.................

My Dad and I were discussing the distance from our house to a car dealership. I explained that from our house to this one intersection is 4 miles. Then from there to the dealer is 3 miles. Totalling 7 miles.

My Dad said "No, from that intersection to the dealer is 5 miles, totalling 8 miles.

My Mom then says......are you ready........

"Maybe that's because when Daddy drives he doesn't drive as fast as you Cheryl, is that possible?"

I think I shoulda put this in one of my jokes for the day!

OMG Cheryl! How in the world did you respond without busting out laughing? Was there one of those stunned silences, the one where you just hear the clock ticking???

I responded with exactly that! I busted out laughing! Then I went over, hugged my Mom, and said to her, "It's ok, Mom, I love you anyway." Then my Dad start laughing and my Mom said "I don't get it!"

Still....she didn't get it. I tried to explain, but to no avail

She must be using the same logic of people who speed to get to the gas station when their gas tank is almost empty.

I had a friend in college who was the sweetest girl, but she would blurt out stuff without thinking. Once, we were at the zoo looking at the map, the stationary one with "You are here" on it. We also had the paper maps you carry with you. Anna, looking puzzled, said, "Why don't they put You are Here on the ones you carry with you." Then she stopped and said, "Oh, did I say that?"
