woo hoo! First post!

A few months ago our Ginger Tabby, Tiger, passed away at 16 years+. My wife had found him on her way to school crying for help because he was too small to climb out of the gutter onto the sidewalk. I'm putting together some photos of him. (edit: Photos of Tyger are here.)

A week after he passed we found out someone we knew was trying to get rid of some new kittens, so we ended up with Godzilla and Mea a lot sooner then expected. (Mea's real name is Mea A'a, hawaiian for "adventurer")

photos of the kittens are here

Thanks.

The nice thing about digital cameras is you can take hundreds of bad pictures, and all anyone will ever know about is the few good ones... ;-)

Aw they're cute! I love gray cats like Mea, and I like how Godzilla has some gray on him to look a bit like Mea!

Oh and I LOVE that tongue picture... Baylee does that and I never have my camera close enough by!

At the kitty's beck and call
Welcome to TCS

Mea and Godzilla are simply beautiful
. Our little cat has a Hawaiian name too - Lili 'a nani (beautiful lily), she's Lily for short.

We're looking forward to lots more pictures as they grow up.

The funny thing is, she looks EXACTLY like their father, and he is nearly the spitting image of their mother. (The mother's "cape" is calico, his is grey)

We had the hardest time finding a name for Mea. Her brother was a little coward when they were younger, while she would calmly sit and evaluate everything going on around her before setting of to explore anything and everything she could. We wanted to find a name that showed that off, and looked in nearly every language we could think of (even Klingon!) We settled on Mea A'a, but weren't thrilled about it at first because we're not hawai'ian, and have never been to hawai'i...

Once we realized that we were also not Greek, Italian, or Klingon, it didn't seem to matter so much. ;-)

Think of it as inspiration to visit Hawai'i. My daughter (now 18) has a Hawaiian name - Ualani (it means heavenly rain). We always promised her that one day we would visit Hawai'i with her - that was our inspiration, we took her in 2000 it was magical!

KLINGON
Good job we didn't give our daughter a Klingon name - that would have been a tough promise to live up to!!!!!

I think Mea is a lovely name - chosen because it suits her spirit. That's so special.
