Here I am:

I have always been tiny and have not weighed over 105 or so.
I lost weight, my identical twin sister died in 1990 of cancer, and then in 1997, Mma died with colon cancer. They did colonoscopies on me and began finding huge numbers of polyps. SO......the gastroenterologist referred me to the same colo-rectal surgeon who took care of my mother.
He told me that I would die of colon cancer unless they did a temporay ileosotmy.
They did that in September of 2003. I had to have the bag thing for 4 months. I had to stay out of work (teaching for 6 weeks after the surgery).
In January 2004, they did the reversal. I was in the hospital for 17 days, for my colon would not start working.
I lost to 67 pounds.
Then I had to stay out of work for another 4 weeks.

There was NO cancer in any of the polyps, but I have to have regular colonoscopies from now on.

I do weigh 84 pounds.

I am really nervous and scared because on Monday, I will have the first colonoscopy since those 2 major surgeries.
I would appreciate pryers from those of you who pray, good thoughts and stuff from those of you who believe in that, any postitive energy that can be sent my way.

Thanks! Bobbie

I am not attractive, for I have a disease called neurofibromatosis. I have little bumps on my skin. I will tell you all more about it later. SOme of you may have heard of it. I'm blessed ot just have the bumps. Many people habe HORRIBLE health issues with it and are also mentally impaired.

And hey!, you ARE attractive!, it's whats on the inside not the outside so you remember that!

I have heard of Neurofibromatosis. I'm sure i saw something on the discovery channel a while back?, but i'll look it up so i can get more knowledge on it.

Let us know how things go!

You have a gorgeous smile and a courageous spirit. If you don't think that is beauty within itself? I personally believe you are beautiful inside and out- I will be praying for you. I have a friend who had to go through similiar trials as you. We all have our own lot in life, and sometimes the beautiful people have really ugly souls. I don't read you that way at all-

My father passed away from colon cancer when I was 16 and my mom was diagnosed with cervical cancer when I was 23. I will have to start getting the colonscopies when I turn 40 as a precaution. It does amaze me how the methods of treating cancer are constantly changing and becoming more refined and successful over the last while.

I will be sending as many good thoughts your way on Monday Bobbie!
Give us an update when you can.

Bobbi, I knew you were dealing with some health issues, but I had no idea they were so serious and had caused you to loose so much weight. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers. I hope everything goes well on Monday and that you continue to be cancer free. Good luck, and please update us when you are able to.

My grandmother had colon cancer and she ended up being on those bags for the rest of her life.
well the cancer was removed but 18 years later she had breast cancer and that was removed too... and then two years later they had discovered that the cancer had actually spread and she ended up having lung cancer.
She died a week after my bday in 2003.

You are in my thoughts and i hope you will have a successfull recovery.
I have to agree with what hissy said in her post

Hissy said it very well, and it is so true, there are "beautiful" people with the ugliest souls.

I'll keep you in my thoughts and prayers for a smooth procedure and no problems to be found,

I agree with what others have already said. Beauty truly comes from within, and I have experienced it so many times...someone who may not be the Cosmo idea of beautiful is simply gorgeous because their kind loving spirit shows through every part of their being. Bobbie, you definitely fall into this category - so no more saying you are unattractive!

I will definitely keep you in my thoughts for the new tests, and sending positive and healthy energy to you!

Bobbie....I want to echo what the others have said and to also let you know that I will be praying for you as well. I too, am having a colonoscopy on Monday.....so I'll be thinking about you while I'm on the "table."

There is also a lot of colon cancer (among other cancers) in my family and I've suffered with terrible IBS for years. Over the last couple of months, my abdominal pain has gotten a lot worse and my GI doctor finally decided it was time to do a colonoscopy. I just turned 40 back in October.....so it's a good idea for me to go ahead and get screened. I went to the grocery store this morning and stocked up on a bunch of clear liquids.....which is all I can have tomorrow......well except for the gross stuff I have to drink to clean out the colon.

Tomorrow.......I'll toast you with my "drink." Here's to good health and good test results!

Big hugs!

Thanks Susan. I'll try to get on here and post some Monday evening...once I wake up good enough. That stuff they give me to put me to sleep seems to stay with me for a long time. (don't want to get on here and embarrass myself)
