Just had a half an hour under my sun bed that I have up in the guest room. Love the heat of this thing and go under it most days although over christmas and the time have been off work - have been avoiding it as never felt that well.
I love being browner than what I was - I go out in the sun, take a sniff and start turning immediately. The winter months are awful and I hate going whiter than a sheet washed by Daz automatic.
Started with sun beds when was on vacation in Wales last year - got burnt outside first day we were there - so decided that would get one and then avoid getting burnt.
Works like a dream.
Anyone else into these things - i love it so much - I bought one!!!! Just wish I could get Carol to use it as she looks great with a tan. Any ideas how I can pursuade her would be appreciated.

Kev
never gets burnt now....

Sun beds- ulta violet tubes, lay under them or you can stand these days in a salon and helps the skin turn brown. Sure you heard of them - they are everywhere these days....

... and I know about the health warnings... I dont smoke, like a drink but its extremeley rare through the drugs, so its my bit of pleasure.

Maybe you know them as.. Tanning Beds? -some people around here call them that..

Kev-
I love them! My grandpa's gf has one that she only uses it the week before she goes to Florida.. so it doesnt get used too much, so i go once a week.. keep a nice little tan! its great.. i get soo sleepy in it though, because i am so relaxed!

I've never used one but I've always kind of wanted to... I'm very pale. However the idea of lying on a bed others have used in nothing or next to nothing makes me a bit nervous. And all of the health risks associated with it...

So basically I have no idea how you can convince Carol to use it!
Good luck though!

I can understand your concerns ref the hygiene bit, thankfully, the salons have moved on a bit these days and you now have stand up ones where you just - well stand there. I have been in a few on holiday and ended up with a walkman on in there suspended from the ceiling. Then I just sorta listened and I guess, may be, dare I say it - danced a bit!!!!!!
Thankfully, the stand up ones have nothing to touch you or you them and that way, you are not affected by the previous person at all.

On my sun bed I have a bottle of cleaning fluid that I spray every time I have been on and then wipe down. its a form of disinfectant and therefore, no worries at all.

Ref the other health stuff, well its gonna be bad for you as you are damaging your skin by making it brown. The brownness is the skin's way of protecting itself. Carol knows all my moles on my body and regular checks them for me so the first sign of any problem- and we get it checked. So far = so good. I never get complacent about them - they are dangerous - however, they have stopped me geting burnt last year in the summer.

Too funny! Dancing in a tanning room... what a picture! As long as you didn't pull a Ross and get it all done on one side...

Regarding the health risks... this past summer I spent such a long time out in the sun trying to get a tan - I mean, I swam laps also, but all the sun exposure has to be worse than tanning in a salon (even though I used sunscreen).

I just wear a load of sunscreen and I self tan because I've seen too many people suffer with skin cancer.. But then I've been a smoker and I am a drinker so I'm not one to judge..

I run the other way when tanning salon people head for me.
Redheads & sun don't mix.
I would love to have smooth milky white skin again, instead of the sun-damaged mess I have now, just from growing up in the Southwestern US. I have to get skin cancer checks twice a year, and I started getting wrinkles in my early twenties.

More than anything else, though, what finally scared me into covering up & wearing SPF 50 was seeing older folks walking around with pieces of their faces missing, from skin cancer.

Trust me my wife says my behind is my best bit... I have no idea why she says this - may have something to do with the fact that when we argue - she always tells me she would like to see the back of me. Therefore- my behind must be the best...

that is so true - dont go on a tanning bed if you are a red head or have a mass of freckles.... its not good for you and very very dangerous

Kev

Under the cats, mostly.
yeah Kev, my dad has the same problem. He always finished up looking like something out of an old comedy film with a white handkerchief on his head - tied at the corners of course
all he was missing was the rolled up trousers, braces and wellyboots.

And anyway... you can get aroudn the "baldie" issue by telling your son it's a solar panel for a red hot love machine. Believe me, dad did that one on us... and I dont' think we ever mentioned it again. Mum had a few interesting things to say about the panel being faulty though/....
