Ok You buy your cats the best toy you can find. You spend hours shopping for it and looking of course. You finally find the right toy. So you grab the box it is in and take it to the check out stand. While waiting in line you wonder will they like it. what will they do when the first see it. Well you turn now to pay out. You pay the cashier and head for the car to go home. While driving home you still wonder about what they will do. Finally your home. Guess who's waiting for you!!! You get in side while trying to avoid all the little feet. You sit down and open the box and place this awsome toy you got them on the floor and toss the box aside. You wait for them to start playing with it, buuuuut they just snif it and run straight to the box and play with it instead and maybe giving the new toy a slap or two and then returning to the box. Stunned and confused you leave them be.

why do these cats prefer a box over a cool toy built for them?

We will never know, lol.

To make it short. Get a box cut a hole in it nad let the fun begin.

LOL Ashley! I'm afraid I agree with the kitties. My kittens think the best toys are empty toilet paper rolls, plastic bottle tops, boxes of all sizes, a scrunched up piece of paper and basically anything safe that I'd usually throw into the recycling bin. They know quality when they see it.

I know EXACTLY what you mean!

Lola, 4 months but very small, LOVES balled up paper or wrappers. I have a garbage beside my desk and whenever I toss something in there, she's off like a shot to investigate. She balances with her tummy on the edge, back legs on the side of it on the outside, front on the inside and "rescues" her precious garbage with her mouth....I usually find the paper all over the house. Sometimes, like this morning, it's been un-balled....maybe she's trying to read it??? lol

I've tried to get her to cut it out, but I've given up...now I just make sure that I only throw stuff in there that I'm ok with her playing with (or bury it under something heavy).

Pitufo goes nuts with a string, as soon as someone picks up the string he wakes up and starts to chase you all over the house. He barely gets any sleep playing with it and when you are tired of playing and you are walking away he will pick up the string and follow you with it. My other cats like to play with a pen, a stick, plastic bottles and anything they can find.
