Before "bad computer day" I had started to post about our little feral/stray Adelaide. We had decided to humanely trap her (by closing the conservatory doors
, not very complicated really) after getting help and encouragement from TCS.

She's been home three weeks now. She's made loads of progress and is a really sweet, adorable kitty

Well, whilst we've all been offline, Addy's been a busy girl. Before, she used to roll over and over on our dining room floor when she could see Felicity, one of our other cats. Well, Wednesday, she started rolling over when I went to talk to her. Then, when I called her for her food, she started rubbing her back around the doorpost.

Since then, she's started to come when I call her. If I say "come on Addy, come and see Beth" she gets out of her basket, or comes from under the table to see me. She doesn't come all the way up to me, maybe stopping about four feet away, but she comes!!!

Yesterday, she started playing with her wand toy. She didn't seem to know how to play before. But she really goes for it now
- she even won it today.

She has enjoyed being fussed with the wand for some time, but has been really frightened of hands. Well, today I STROKED ADDY
. I couldn't believe it, she let me stroke her, and boy does she like it. She's scared if she can see my hand coming towards her, or if she can see me stroking, but once she's accepted the attention, she doesn't want you to stop.

I'm soooo happy. In fact, I'm delighted. I said to the family, that I thought it would be christmas before we got to that stage, and I thought I was being optimistic at that. But she's done us proud!!!! GOOD ADDY.

Sorry it's a long post. But I've been bursting to tell my news.

Aawwww how sweet. Addy got lonely in the dining room and has just come into the living room to see us. She's never spent anytime here before. She's sitting on the living room floor (not looking at all scared) watching TV

Here's our latest piccie of Adelaide in her new favourite place - under the dining table.

The photos are still a bit blurred - as we still can't use a flash near her. but as you can see, she's looking much more relaxed now.

I'm glad she's doing so much better! That's a teeny tiny pic but she still looks sweet!

Aaarrggh - I'm new to this picture loading thing. It looks huge on my screen (about 7 inches square). How tiny does it look on your screen?

mmm!! I'll have to try loading them and check them out on hubby's machine to see what everyone else is seeing. It's still about 7 inches square on my machine!!

ok. After a bit of playing around with photobucket (deleting and reloading) I think I've got the photo up at a decent size this time. Let me know if it's still tiny.

Definitely not tiny any more! It's probably twice the size you think it is... but at least I can see her... she looks even prettier than I thought she was (since she was the size of a thumbprint!)!

Aww thanks. She is a pretty girl. She's a clean cat, but she does get a runny eye if she gets in a draught - I'd love to get close enough to help her clean it!

She is sooo brave - we're really proud of her. She's been in home 4 weeks today and has certainly claimed her favourite spots. She'll accept a stroke from us if she can't see it's our hand that's doing it - she seems to know it's us (and doesn't want us to stop), but she's still scared of hands.

She has now started to roll over for my daughter when she comes down the stairs. She's a very calm, animal oriented person (hoping to study zoology/animal behaviour at University next year) and Adelaide sleeps with one of her socks!!
She certainly is a brave cat!

Beth,

I was reading your other post in the Lounge and wondered how Addie was doing. She's a really cute cat and I'm glad she's becoming adjusted!!!!!

Hi Chris - it's nice to talk to you again.

Well everyone I'm floating. As usual, at half-time in the football, I went to the dining room to have a chat with Adelaide. Ok, this gets a bit complicated (I'm not telling the story very logically LOL!) I thought I'd see if she wanted a fuss - earlier this afternoon when I came home from taking my daughter some where I went to chat to her then. I normally come in and whichever cat I can find gets a bit of stroke. Totally without thinking, I knelt down by Addie's favourite dining chair and started to stroke her. Her head whipped around and I thought, oops I forgot we don't stroke this one like the others yet. Anyway, after seeing it was my hand, she just arched her neck up for more fuss!!

So at half-time in the football I went out and stroked her and she got off her chair and started rolling over on the floor. As I was stroking her I thought I could hear a noise, but wasn't sure what it was. As she was next to the radiator I was wondering whether it was the heating system I could hear - but it wasn't I put my head right next to her tum and - Addie was purring

She has never purred for us before - I feel so honoured. I guess we must be friends.

Sweet Addie
