I gave my cat some catnip on Saturday for the first time since I've had her. She is the sweetest-tempered cat I have ever seen; however, after I gave her the catnip, first she rolled in it, then she became rather aggressive, swatting at my hand like she was trying to paw me. She then sat down, almost like she was stoned or something. Does anyone else's cat become aggressive after they give them catnip?

My Cynder boy loves cat nip. He meows when he knows Im giving it to him then he eats it. But he has never gotten mean after it at all. I have recently gotten some cat grass but it hasnt started growing yet I hear they like it.

Not all cats will become aggressive after having catnip, but it is one of the reactions that is seen. Try giving your cat a smaller amount, or just leaving her alone during the height of her catnip reaction
You can also see if instead of ground catnip or catnip budz, a catnip toy would be enjoyed without stimulating as much of an aggressive response.

I have eight cats, three get aggressive on catnip to the point where they actually attack either myself or hubby or their feline friends. I have one that is so affectionate on the stuff he craves it everyday. I keep a big bag in the freezer and when he hears the freezer door open he comes running until I give him a small bit of it.,

Some cats will react to it, others don't care for it. Try honeysuckle toys instead and see if that makes a difference-
