If you take a look at your profile, your usergroup now reflects your user title - kitten, young cat, adult cat, etc.
The avatar selection increases with each 'promotion'. At Super Cat level, you may have a custom avatar. At Top Cat, you may have a custom title. Promotion to each level is based on both post count AND length of membership.
