We have always when older cats are introduced kept them in a room away from other cats about a week. Even then we had some problems...Alpha Shadow literally beats her alphaness into all incoming cats. She never uses claws or teeth but she will bat and hiss and growl until they learn their place. She has done this since our original alpha Muffin passed on. With kittens 2-5 months we have never had trouble immedatlly introducing them straight in. Shadow will hiss at these but not bat or growl. Morris is a dady figure and will take on the role of protector until they are old enough to fend for themselves.

We are really courious as to when we should allow Elfi's babies once born to be introduced to the rest of the household, that is about the only place I don't have experaince with introducing.

Well, I let the ktities out together again this morning when my husband went to work, but then I wanted to nap so I cracked the door wide enough so they could see eachother. When I woke up Ripper had somehow got into my rooms and they were both laying on the bed with me. Ripper is definately the dominant one...but he's also still a kitten so he may just be trying to play. He doesn't hiss or growl when he punces and bats at Angus, but I don't think Angus thinks he's playing. HE's not really hissing all that much anymore, but I doubt he likes being chase by the new one. I think I'll still try Feliway.

How cute. There was no growling from Angus, but he looked a ltitle...confused since Ripper was chasing him all over the house this morning. I'm thinking Ripper WAS just playing this morning.

I'm getting some Soft Paws for the tikkies tomorrow. Do you think it would be safe to leave them alone with eachother after I get them. I haven't seen any biting between the two...but how much damage can cats do to eachother with jsut their teeth?

He seems to be just being playful, but my old guy feels threatened...Can I stop this cat from chasing my other cat?

Although Angus sometiems provokes him by running up to him and then the other cat chases him away...strange..

Tikkies are sleeping about 3 inches away from eachother. I wish they'd cuddle, but I can be patient. They aren't best friends yet, still in transitional period. Both the kitties have lived with other male cats before. I was worried this morning cause Ripper seemed to want to play with Angus and Angus was a little upset because he hasn't played with another cat since he was a kitten. I mean he did chase an terroize my sister's cat Satey ALL the time. I guess now Angus sees what satey put him through *lol* I think once Angus figures out the kitty is just trying to play, they'll be good friends. Angus is a social guy and the new one seems to be too. Plus I know that he lived with five other cats in peace (he was a foster kitty). I'm pleased with their progress.

Ooh! Ripper-kitty just put his head up against sleepy-head Angus. So they are psuedo-cuddling. My babies are SO cute!

Darn, Ripper-kitty rolled over and Angus took it as a threat.

I merged your threads into one so that we could more easily follow the story of your cats and how they are learning to get along together.

I just threw my cats in together and they are buddies now. They still holler at one another from time to time and I have to break it up, but I don't think you ruined their chances of becoming friends. I can't think of anything else to add that hasn't already been mentioned, but I thought that it might be good to know I was terribly worried for awhile with mine and they get along now. Good Luck!
