...with the cats...
Good afternoon!

This morning I had a dream. I don’t usually dream (that I remember), I think because I’m a combination of an ‘out like a light’ and a light sleeper — I’m always quick to wake up to unusual sounds, as that could mean the cats are into something naughty!

For today’s Question of the Day……

Do you usually dream while you’re sleeping? Do you usually remember them, or parts of them? If so — What was the last dream you had about?

I’ll start!

On the pretty rare occasion that I do dream, I wake up remembering just a little snippet or two from it. The dream I had this morning, I remember a good part of it.

My dream started out with me walking around some fencing surrounding a yard. My impression was that I was checking the fencing, so that I could let my dog out safely. (I love dogs almost as much as I love cats, but have never had a dog of my own) So I head towards the house, which in my dream I’d just bought. I open the front door, and my dad was sitting in a rocking chair near the wood stove (my dad passed quite a few years ago). I say to him, ‘Oh, you’re here already!’ And he replies, ‘It’s a good price you paid for this house.’ And I say, ‘This was all I needed.’ (The house was quite small, though had a good sized lot of land to it.)

Then my dream headed into the usual ‘strangeness’ of dreams. I was back outdoors, at the back of the house, and noticed what seemed to be a small graveyard directly behind the house — which struck me as strange even in my dream. There was a good sized sign at the edge of the graveyard, facing away from me. So I walked around it and looked at it. It had a small deer painted on one portion of it, and some writing painted on it too. I think in my dream I assumed it was a graveyard for animals.

Next, I was walking towards the back door of the house. There were two young children following me, a little girl and a little boy. In my dream, they belonged to the sellers of the house, who were not completely moved out yet. I told the kids, ‘Let’s go inside, sweet pea.’ We go inside the house through the back door, and I knew their parents were upstairs. We walk past a fireplace, and I thought that was very nice, to have both a fireplace and a wood stove in the house. My dad was still sitting in the rocking chair by the wood stove. I walk back to the fireplace, only now it’s a heater type thing. someone tells me that the heater uses fuel from a can/canister. I ask that someone, I’m not sure who it was, what the can/canister looks like. And I’m thinking, that’s strange that I wouldn’t have asked about this before buying the house.

That’s when our Punky woke me up by climbing up on the cat wall furniture and scratching it.

All in all, a rather pleasant dream! And this was the first time that I’ve had a dream which my dad was in, since he died.

Okay, now it’s your turn!

Oh, I dream.  At length, in color, and with smells.  I do remember some.  The last one I really remember was 2 nights ago when I dreamt that I was flying above deep teal fields under a purple sky.  I know I had wings, but I'm not sure what the rest of me looked like.

I have several recurring dreams but they all share one thing.  I can fly and often I'm trying to teach others how easy it is.  The last dream I remember started with me being chased by sandworms, like in Dune.   They were extremely scary and could get up pretty high, close to where I was flying.  I did escape them, however, and saw a castle on an island ahead.  As I flew towards it, pirates started chasing me.  I flew to the highest part of the castle but at that point, I was no longer flying for some reason.  The pirates began getting closer and closer.  By this time I had a friend with me so the two of us located a convenient ladder and shoved it over the castle walls to have it land right at a manhole that suddenly appeared.  I woke up as I was climbing down the ladder.  It was a rather exhausting dream.

I rarely remember my dreams.  The ones that I do remember always involve being lost.  I keep coming back to the same place and don't find my way out.

I have many recurring dreams. In most of my dreams, I am either flying, have magic powers, or both. Unfortunately, I also have a recurring dream where I have to repeat school. In fact, that was the subject of my dream, where I have to go back to middle school. I was not too fond of my teachers in my dreams, especially because they ostracize me, and sometimes give me the stink-eye. Also in this dream, my husband tried to get me out of said school, because he knew I didn't want to repeat 12 years of stuff I already learned.

Last night, I had a weird dream about being in this place, where I've never seen before,  but my sister and I were yelling at each other (normal)  and slammed the door shut with her on the outside.  (There is some family history there which I won't go into.) Then she proceeded to bang on the door like she was a lumberjack trying to open it.   I could hardly keep the door closed, it was like she was trying to drive her car through the door.  Then all of a sudden her husband was on the inside of the room with me and told me something sane and rational.  I can't for the life of me recall what he said, but it wasn't like anything he'd normally say, lol.

I only remember dreams if I awake while just having had the dream, if not I don't.  I think I dream all the time though.  I've had lucid dreams and those kinds of dreams that begin before you are fully asleep.  In those I just see faces, colors, shapes and what not that are constantly changing.  Weird how the mind at rest works.

I have recurring nightmares about tornadoes, or about coming into a dark room and flipping the light switch which does not work - I hate those!  Or I'm on the phone trying to make a desperate phone call and the numbers keep changing on me as I try to dial or I forget the number I want to call.  Frustration dreams!

Oh, the phone dream!  I have that one, too.   Usually, I've lost my cell phone and have to borrow someone else's and I can't figure it out.  I hate that dream!

In my phone nightmares, it's usually one of those old timey looking pay phones with a rotary dial or buttons.  Yes it's a miserable dream.

I've had dreams where I'm in my last semester of college and found out too late that I didn't have enough credits to graduate!

And likewise I've had many a nursemare, where I'm in an old dusty cobbwebbed room with stacks of charts to chart on and only 2 hours left in the shift to complete them all.

Our dog passed away a few yrs. ago but we were so bonded that most of the dreams I remember are about him.  He always slept on the floor by my side of the bed and the last thing I would do before I fell asleep was say goodnight to him.  I'm sure that's why he is still in my dreams.

i think i'd really not like that kind of dream. and so frustrating, to keep coming back to the same place and not able to find the way out.

I usually dream. I don't remember what I dreamed about last night but the nighte before I was somehow engaged to Prince William and received a phone call from the Queen of England, British accents included
I have no idea where any of that came from.

Occasionally I have repeat dreams. It may be years before a dream repeats but when it does I somehow know that I had the exact same dream before.

I recall one dream where I was getting married, but had no idea to whom.  So I went to the guest register to find out last name would be Finn.  As in Mrs. Huckleberry Finn.  Ginny Finn.  Yeah, lol.

I have crazy dreams sometimes but most are good and entertaining.  I don't let myself watch dramatic or scary movies anywhere hear bedtime because I've dreamt about them as if I'm in the movie!  I get all kinds of dreams otherwise though.  Occasionally flying, once it was like a musical with everyone singing but mostly they seem pretty random with different people from different times of my life even.  My childhood best friend and I were both active dreamers and we loved talking about our silly dreams.  One of our friends topped us by dreaming he was trapped and had to kick through an ice wall to get away. In reality he kicked a hole in the wall between his bedroom and the bathroom.

I've had a couple dreams lately where DH and I were living in a different home that had been remodeled.  One was my mother's current house and the other was a different building.  I don't remember what type of building it had been; but I remember we'd closed in a balcony to make the master bedroom.  I've been playing with my home design software a lot lately; so thats probably why.

I have a recurring nightmare about having ten cats, and usually I awake in a cold sweat, screaming.  Once I have my wits about me and realise that I do have ten cats, the screaming begins in earnest.

I often have vivid dreams.  Last week, I had been watching Murder She Wrote episodes with my mom before going to bed and that night I dreamed I was a spy in another country, trying to figure out how to get away before the bad guys got me.
