I We have 3 inside dogs with full range of the house and 3 small children that may accidentally open a door if we were to confine her to a single room. I don't feel it is safe inside yet. At night I put her in our garage which has heat/ac and satellite TV lol as this is where are dogs go when we leave to go somewhere for short periods of time. I do let her out some but she stays on the front porch and lays on the patio furniture. She doesn't roam at all, we are working to build the relationship with her and the dogs b/c we don't want her outside at all! Her name has been agreed by the kids as Gabby :heart3:

Awww, Miss Gabby.  That's a great name!

By the way, can I move into your garage?

@Orange&White  They act like they are neglected when they go in the garage! Gabby didn't seem to mind it at all though! This might have to be her temporary home though, as her belly seems to be getting bigger, so I'm almost positive she is pregnant....I'm going to see if she will let me look closer at her belly tonight so I can check her nipples for swelling or redness.....I don't know that its the best time to introduce her and the dogs....does anyone have experience with this?? I don't think 2 of my dogs care about her at all they are old and just want to eat and sleep for the most part....but my larger dog is only 2 1/2. very active and is 60 lbs. (Gary was her best friend)

Well, I cancelled my television service about 10 years ago, so I was kind of jealous that your pets get to watch TV.  Hee hee, lucky dogs...and cat.

I have the same conundrum about introducing my new feral kitten to my 10 year old Corgi, so I'll see what everyone else has to say about that.  My Corgi and the senior cat get along fine, but the senior does not run from dogs.  I'm afraid if the kitten runs from my dog, he will think she is prey and hurt her.

Looking forward to following the pregnancy story as it unfolds.  :)

Not true; in the ten years you've been away from television, there still hasn't been a single thing on that's worth watching.

Now I'm a little confused.....I noticed a slit in the very top of each of her ears, almost like someone took scissors and made a precise cut. Google says feral cats ears are clipped or notched to indicate spay/neuter.... The vet didn't see a scar from surgery. Is there another reason for the slits? I'll get a picture as soon as I'm back home!
I don't see that anyone answered this, but when they clip or notch an ear for spay/neuter it is pretty obvious. The idea being that someone will notice it from a distance and not spend time to try and trap that particular cat again. The little slits could be left over from a fight or, if she isn't spayed, a mating if her ear was torn/bit. I don't want to consider some random cruel human chance of causing it.

Last night we had the dogs on leashes and let her walk around, I think it went well...she didn't seem scared. She got under my chair and started grooming herself, I would say the dogs are a lot more anxious than she is! She follows me everywhere lol my little shadow.....I take a bath she is sitting on the edge of the tub....I get up to get something to drink and come back and she has stolen my spot  haha I put her in our spare room at one point so I could move the dogs and the kids were in there watching TV, when I opened the door to let her out she was in the bed with them laying down while they pet her. :)

She doesn't like wet food now that she has gotten use to having food at all times...(Gary didn't either) She also refuses to use the litter box if we put her in the garage b/c she doesn't want to be in there.....but if we let her in the house she uses it but doesn't cover which is strange! She does have times when she will choose to pee on the carpet vs the litter box.....hopefully she gets the hang of it soon! Today hasn't been easy keeping her inside b/c she really wants to go out.....and I feel so mean for making her stay in!

We have had a name change too......as the kids when trying to call her Gabby would sometimes mistakenly say Gary.....Chloe is what they decided on! They have said it so much she is already looking when you say it!

No, you're not being mean keeping her inside, it sounds like she's adjusting well to being indoors, especially in your house (as opposed to the garage). It took one of my ferals about a year to learn how to cover her poop in the litter box--maybe yours is a little slow, too. It sounds like Chloe is on her way to being a spoiled little princess :)

What a good progress!

It's great to hear that she's following you around and getting petted and grooming herself.

Some cats don't cover their pee or poo. As long as it's not a medical issue like if she use to cover before and now she suddenly stop doing that. It could be some pain or discomfort that made her hard to pee or poo and therefore wants to get out of the box without covering the poo or pee. She could be constipated or have UTI.

Other than that, I guess it's just a territorial marking as you have dogs in the house.

No, you are not mean in keeping her in. You'll only be mean if you let her out.

She has such an adorable face!

Sounds like the introduction to the dogs went really well!  Aside from the carpet peeing, seems things are going well for your family and Chloe in general.  She'll probably get more consistent with the box over time.  Keep up the good work!

I tried a leash tonight and it wasn't her favorite thing.....but, Gary was the same way at first. I think I will let her get a bit more settled in and more comfortable with myself before trying again. I remember the same situation with Gary but he was so determined to go outside so we stuck to it and he eventually loved it! Anyone else use a leash or stroller?  Also, since being inside I have noticed her belly doesn't seem quite as big so maybe she was just overeating thinking something was going to take her food!

Here are some pictures of my Gary and his leash/stroller......I sure do miss that sweet boy!

Or she may have dropped...  If it is a small litter, she wont protrude much.    "Dont shout  Hey before you are over the creek"  as the proverb says.   :)

Yeah, Gary was handsome and sweet.   As is his successor and  named  heir
