I adopted a new kitten on Friday!

He LOVES to play so I'm looking for suggestions on good sturdy toys to get him! I want to get this one for him, but Amazon states that it won't ship for 1-2 months.

Any other suggestions on good places to find toys or good ones to get? I'm in a rural area. The closest Petco is 30 minutes away. The closest PetSmart is 1 hour away.

It's really too bad that you don't live near me in Maryland.  I have one of those that I would give you in a heartbeat.  For some reason, Paul and Chula have no interest in it, although they do like other track toys.

Since you are interested in track toys,  you might consider the Bergan Turbo Scratcher toy:

It is in stock at Amazon right now.  Chula especially loves this toy.  We've had it for months and she has yet to grow tired of it.

Here are some other good toys.  All are currently in stock at amazon.

1.  The SmartyKat Loco Motion Cat Toy:

This is nice because the feather flips around randomly and it turns itself off after about 20 minutes.  It's also better made than some of the other toys like this.

2.  The SmartyKat Hot Pursuit Concealed Motion Cat Toy

Cats love these kinds of toys but consider buying a lazy susan to go with it.  Tape the toy on top of the lazy susan and cats have a more difficult time pinning down the toy, which can cause the motor to burn out.

3.  KONG Feather Top Carrot Catnip Toy:

My cats love this.  I think you can do just as well with the other Kong toys shaped like bananas and cigars - my cats just happen to like the carrots.  The nice thing about these is you can replace the catnip when it gets old.

4.  Da Bird Cat Toy:

It is the rare cat who can resist DaBIrd.  Most of them will chase it all around the house and leap and twist into the air, trying to catch it.

That's just a few of the toys that are big hits with my cats.

Consider homemade ones as well:

My cat enjoys most the free interactive toys - a small wad of paper to bat around or retrieve. Ping-pong balls,  a string he can lead the humans around with.  Or just an empty cardboard box or basket to jump in and out or take a nap in.
