I saw this video on Facebook earlier and wanted to share it here.
It's a very beautiful, but heart wrenching poem.
I imagine that these words are exactly what my sweet Rita would say to me, if she could.

Absolutely beautiful. It symbolizes what we feel in our hearts, the love between two souls that will never be taken. Thank you for sharing.

Thanks for posting this. Very sweet and poignant.

I lost my beloved cat of 11 years this past week and in the midst of sobbing through this I couldn't help but giggle because it didn't sound at all like my big, feisty Pippin.

He wasn't much for reading moods or using many words. He would have been more like "So long, and thanks for the food. And letting me sleep between your knees. Now I'm off to chase bugs."

Wow, I was only able to make it to 1:06 minutes - I'll have to watch the rest at another time.

I actually thought I was getting stronger with dealing with the loss of my two babies this past year, but I suppose I will always shed tears for them no matter how long it's been.

This is beautiful, thanks for posting.

Thank you for sharing this beautiful poem.Having lost my beloved cat Omelette one month ago I am really feeling all of this.I have been crying since Dec.25 the day she became ill.I am crying now after reading this poem.Nothing will ever make me forget the love I shared with her.I only had her four years out of her short six.I am absolutely devastated. All these words ring true from our dearly loving pets to us.Omelette will live on in my heart forever.I am sending hugs out to all of you who are mourning this loss of their treasured pet.

=====
“‘Owner, Dearest Friend,’ by Vivian Matthews

I could never say enough, Owner, dearest friend,
to thank you for the love you gave to me, until the end.

I’m sorry that I hurt you by saying my goodbye.
You gave me such a happy home, I lived a happy life.
I leapt and played and laughed in ways you maybe couldn’t see.

Of all the pets you might have loved, I’m glad that you chose me.
It’s okay to miss me, for I miss you too.
It’s okay to bow your head and cry if you have to.
However hard it seems today, your dear sweet heart will heal.
For now, my friend, remember me and feel what you must feel.

But don’t give up on loving, Owner, dearest friend.
Although the cost is oh so high, it’s worth it in the end — to know that you made this pet’s life the best one it could be. It should be no mystery why you meant the world to me.

So here’s my final word, my friend, this is my last wish:
Find another lonely pet, then give to them my dish.
And every time they make you smile, know that I’m smiling too,
still so proud to once have been a dearest friend to you.

Love, always.”

Where do you think?
I'd imagine you could even have the PDF printed as a book some companies offer this service. Would be a good gift.

Blurb offers the service in canada but I'm sure other companies offer it as well
