i took my cat to the vet because she had stopped eating and had ear mites, the vet gave her three injections and said to bring her in three days i asked the vet to check her up for anything else that may be wrong with her but he said no shes strong like a rock, so i took her to another vet who cleaned her ears out, next day i went to the second vet again and the second vet checked her mouth and said she might have abscess, and gave her three injections and told me to bring her in two days,

when i was petting her i noticed a lump under her chin and i had to point this out to the vet to convince him that there was something else wrong with the cat, the vet then sold me some iodine ointment and told me to rub it twice a day for 5 days and he said it'll disappear,

i asked my dad who used to be a vet over 27 years ago and he said when an animal has abscess after the abscess breaks open and empties its supposed to be washed out and filled in with soemthing that will slowly empty out and heal at the same time,

so im a little worries that the unprofessional vets here don't care for cats properly and give them minimal treatment, should i be worried? is that process described necessary? or should i just keep rubbing the ointment and let it heal by its self?

also i just switched her to royal canin persian kitten dry food and royal canin instinctive kitten wet food because i was worried the cheap cat food i got her that doesnt even have a brand is bad for her, and recently she has been pooping very dark bad smelling poop, shes 9 months old

also there was a period where she barely ate a few peices of food for two days before i took her to the vet

she just pooped and now not only is her feces dark but also liquid and had a tiny hint of blood along with mucus and something stringy couldnt tell if it was mucus or a worm,

im gonna really push the vets tomorrow to do a full check on her, i hope its not the diet change thats bothering her

If she has mouth ulcers, that might explain why she's not eating. Also, if you changed her dry food suddenly, that can cause gastric problems. it's always good to gradually transition dry food over a period of several weeks.

It sounds like she needs to have a fecal test done to rule out parasites for one thing.  What kind of shots has she gotten?  Did you get paperwork with all that information on it?  She could be reacting to one of the medications.

no the vet didn't give me papers but i took a picture of the bottles she had the injections from,

this morning she pooped and at first it was liquid but towards the end there was a solid peice, and upon closer inspection with toothpicks i found two worms, shes had worms before and i treated her and she was fine after that, but i think the medicine she is recieving is providing the work eggs the right environment to hatch

i took her again today and the vet gave her dewormer injection and betamox antibiotic for her ear mites and abscess in her teeth/jaw,

and he gave me liquid betamox to put in her mouth twice a day and gave me two needeles filled with betamox injection and told me to inject one tomorrow and the other one after tomorrow so i wouldn't have to come again fo two days,

my worry now is she might have something wrong in her stomach that is causing the dark poop but i made the vet do a check up and he said theres nothing else wrong, i asked him about the dark poop and he said it's because of the abscess, i'm not fully convinced what do you guys think?

is it possible that having a tooth/jaw abscess is causing a cat to have dark poop?

Very dark stool, like black or similar is an indication of blood in the stool.  Is that what you're seeing?  Is your cat under a vet's care?

yes but the vet is insisting that nothing else is wrong with her other than earmites and abscess, im thinking she has blood in her stool too, something in the stomach according to my research but i asked the vet and he said nothing else is wrong with her, i wanna believe him but idk

I am wondering if the worms are causing the problems.  I'd give the dewormer a couple of days to work and then see how she's doing.

its possible but the worms showed up out of no where, she didnt eat for a few days, then when she ate she had black solid poop, then a three days later she had liquid poop with blood, next morning liquid oop woth two worms, it was very fast, usually from what ive experienced worms happen over a longer period of time, but ill take you advice and wait for a few days to see if her poop is back to normal, right now im waiting for her to poop, she last pooped this morning (12 HOURS AGO) and i thought she wouldve pooped again by now but she hasnt, maybe this i a sign that shes gettingbetter idk

i just dont want to find out later that she has something else wrong with her and tha ti couldve started working on healing it earlier but i waited because my vet siad nothing is wrong.

Keep monitoring things and see how it goes. Usually after a cat has the runs,, sort of like us, there may be a day between bowel movements as the system changes. Hydration is key and I think you need to search for better vet care. These vets don't seem to be doing a very thorough job in explaining to you what is going on. Just medicating and releasing is terrible practice!!! It's important they take a full history of your kitty and make sure they know if your kitty is an outdoor cat or indoor, how old, has it been fixed etc. An abscess is nothing to be that relaxed about--it may need to be drained.

Best of luck to you :)

thank you, and yes they are very unprofessional, i am going there because it is cheap, but they're not any different with the expensive vets ive been to, just fancier stuff around, this whole country is like this with everything, nothing is official and its very unprofessional, i just she makes it through this

Not sure where you live, but I would ask questions and demand answers. Since your dad was a vet, I'm sure you're better versed in the understanding of animals than most of the average people around. This is unfair to you and your kitty. Cheap isn't always best and the fact they are this unprofessional leads me to wonder what their ethics are. This does not sound like a decent practice you'd find in North America.

i live in saudi, the thing is my dad changed his feild of expertise to ivf long ago and forgot lots of things about being a vet, he also never studied cats, mostly farm animals and a little bit of dogs, it is pretty unfair,

the thing is i don't even fully speak/understand the language here so thats a huge barrier for me, but i have been asking questions, just not adamant on getting answers, i have been taking pictures of the bottles of the injections shes getting, but i'll try to be more adamant on getting answers and understanding them from now on, thank you.

cat still hasn't pooped yet but has played with a wand toy when i was swatting it around so i think thats improvment.
