I have a multi cat household of 5 cats plus 2 dogs. Our newest cat Lucy was adopted off the streets in September. She is the sweetest cat to people and gets along with the dogs great.

She tolerates 3 of the other cats but her and my other girl Charley fight like crazy. Charley is declawed but Lucy isn't and Lucy has drawn blood quite a few times. When they fight neither of them backs down. Charley has scratches all over her face and chest.

When we first brought Lucy into the house we kept her separated in a spare bedroom for a few weeks. We would slowly bring her out to sit with us on the couch and smell the other kitties. Then we started feeding them together.

When we would put Lucy back in the spare room she would howl to be let out and if we ignored her she would pee everywhere.

We finally let her out full time now and that is when the fighting with Charley started. They back each other in to corners and then claw and scream and fight.

Recently Lucy pees anywhere Charley goes. If Charley is sitting on the kitchen table, the minute Charley leaves, Lucy jumps up and pees. She's done it 3 times there, she peed in Charley's bed, on me while sleeping, and on the clean laundry.

We have bought feliway plug ins and have them all over the house, tried catnip, calming spray and collars. We clean up everything with the pee no more enzyme cleaner.

Recently it seems to be getting worse and worse. Is there something else I can do or do I need to seriously consider finding Lucy a new home. Maybe she just needs to be an only cat? We love her and she is fine with all of the others but I'm getting seriously worried about charley getting hurt. Charley has been with me since she was 5 weeks old and has had health problems her whole life. She has liver disease and the vet said that the added stress is not good for her.

What can I do? Please, any and all advice appreciated.

It sounds like you did everything right with the introductions and by using the various calming products.  You might be right that Lucy needs to be an only cat but there is one more thing you can try. Talk to your vet about a sort term prescription of an anti-anxiety medication or an anti-depressant.  Medication is generally recommended only as a last ditch solution but I think you might be there.  You clearly can't let Lucy continue terrorizing Charley.   You wouldn't want to do that even if she had her claws, but she's at a terrible disadvantage without them.

Here are a few articles that might help.
