Good Evening All,

10 days ago I was able to bring home a stray mama cat & one her of kittens that were living in our garden center at work. Mama Kitty and Baby Kitty are in separate rooms because I brought the kitten home first and had her treated for ear mites before I was able to trap mama kitty. Actually both are healthy except for ear mites and they have been treated. Mama kitty is not nursing any longer and baby is eating solid foods.

My vet suggested that they be separated from my other two other cats for at least 6 weeks while the ear mite cycle has ended. I'm finding it very hard to spread my time with all of them so they all get some good quality time while not making my others jealous.  Mama Kitty (Duchess) is taking more work because she is very skittish and the kitten (Halo) is well a kitten and needs play time and interaction.

Six weeks seems like a long time to keep them isolated while my other 2 year old cat (Roadie) is growing more curious. I don't want to infect my other cats with ear mites so I'm looking for validation on the 6 week isolation period.

Any advise ?

Thank You

That's though. Try and arrange something with a close by relative. Agree to pay for food while they foster. Or a co worker. 6 weeks is a short time.

I've brought cats into my home with ear mites and didn't keep my resident kitty and the newbies for that long. We did the normal isolation for the newbies for about a week, then we started introductions.
