Hello everyone,

I recently got a kitten who is adjusting super well to her new life.

She is eating dry food and I was told by the vet not to switch her food often because she is still young and adjusting. I would like to reward her for good behavior with treats. I tried giving her small pieces of her food when she does something good but she was not interested. I don't want to give her human food :) Any advice on how to reward her to encourage good behavior? *kisses and petting already there

How old is your kitten?  I was giving mine dehydrated fish treats made for cats called Smittens by the Honest Company (till we ran out of em) but she went crazy over those.  No extra added ingredients either. I started giving them to her when she was 3 months, a few a day and one pack lasted about 2 months.   Now that mine is a little older and has her adult teeth (6 months) I started giving a couple of dental treats a day (Greenies).  I don't know if the greenies will really work for its purpose but she loves crunching on them and I can get her to do tricks for her treats.

Freeze dried meat or fish treats are good for all cats
The only ingredient is either meat of some kind (chicken, duck, etc) or some kind of fish (salmon, sardine, etc). Most are crumbly and easy to eat but you can also soak the treats in water to soften them up a bit. There's a list of treats here: http://www.thecatsite.com/t/314398/what-treats-do-you-feed-your-cat

Plain cooked or raw meat is ok for a cat although some cats may not like either. Those are the only "people" food I would give to a cat.

Thanks a lot for the advice. I've been feeding her one type of food only for now because I was told by vet not to mix up food for kittens. Will try to introduce her to some delish treats :)
