I am very frustrated and I need some advice! I have a 10 year old cat I love to bits, but he constantly gets large CHUNKS of wet, pee soaked litter stuck on one of his paws. He then walks around my apartment and goes on my furniture, my bed, etc. I am now mopping my floors and doing laundry every day to try and keep my place clean. I cringe thinking where else he has gone without my knowledge with his pee covered paws! Even when I clean out the box daily, he still manages to get the litter on his paws. I have also noticed that sometimes after he gets out of the box his bum is wet still from peeing. I'm kind of at a loss of what to do other than cleaning my apartment constantly. Any advice would be GREATLY appreciated!!

Obviously I mean "from" on the forum title. Sorry about that!

Do you have at least 3 inches of litter in the box to absorb the pee? What brand of litter are you using? Are the clumps of litter stuck to the paws new or has it been an issue for years? If it's a new issue, has your cat been to the vet recently?  "Cement booties" are common with diabetic cats because they pee so much sugary sticky urine.

Thank you for responding. I spoke with my mother who thinks that cat box may be too small because he is a big cat. I did not realize that diabetic urine could be that sticky, and my cat is large. I have tried diet changes but he is still big. Tomorrow I am going to get a larger cat box and use different litter as well. Currently I use Fresh Step Lightweight cat litter and I have read that the lightweight litter can be troublesome. I already have a general check up appointment schedule for my cat so perhaps I will bring up the possibility of diabetes. Thank you again for your response!
