Peek Freans used to make a coffee creme biscuit that I loved
but they discontinued it some years ago

I like most kinds of cookies except for Oreos. I used to like them but can't stand them anymore for some reason. Too sugary maybe. I tend to go for anything chocolate
Sometimes I'll go for a plain sugar cookie or something non-chocolate.

I think for work I'll make some peppermint crinkle cookies for the holidays. I made them once before and they were really good. It has chocolate and Nutella
I don't plan to make more than two dozen or so. Just going to give them to my co-worker, supervisor, the two guys, and maybe one other person who's a cookie addict
those coffee creme biscuits look like they'd be good!
why, oh why,  do so many of the really good and really yummy cookies get discontinued?

ahhh, chocolate cookies!

I like Toll House Cookies the best. Also peanut butter and chocolate chip cookies. Bus since I don't bake I have not had them in years. The bakery around here does not sell them. Them have the exact same products all the time. Nothing new. I don't like store brought cookies at all. They are nasty. Even the Oreos. Sometimes I will buy the cookies at BJ's bakery but again they sell the same thing year after year.
classic Toll House cookies!

years ago, i learned to bake simply because the really yummy desserts were so very expensive to buy. this year, i'm planning on doubling the recipes when i make cookies, then will freeze half the cookie dough in one cookie portions on trays, then into zipper bags. this will allow me to pull out enough to fill one tray and bake it whenever i want to.

Growing up in England we always had a box of English biscuits at Xmas. We loved them though I'm guessing I would not think they're anything special now.

OH boy...I could write a book on cookies I love, but I'll try to keep it simple.  First and foremost, sugar cookies, cut into shapes, iced with royal icing in delightful patterns.  And gingerbread...men, houses, whatever.  I'd LOVE to be able to go to the annual Gingerbread House Expo in Ashville, NC this year, or any year, for that matter.  Chewy chocolate chip cookies.  I have a recipe for (don't gag...they're delightful) fruit cake cookies, that have all the good about fruit cake, and none of the bad.  And they're pretty.  Have to see if I can find that.

Store bought...well...Nutter Butters, Nilla Wafers, and those vanilla cream ones that have layers of a waffle-looking cookie-ish thing with vanilla cream in between...ya'll know what I'm talking about.  And animal crackers.  OH...and Teddy Grahams dipped in cream cheese frosting.  I can thank/blame my elder spawn for that little caloric addiction.
sugar cookies!!!
hmmmm......i think i'll have to plan on baking some sugar cookies coming up! ......and ice them with royal icing!

gingerbread...cookies and cake...YUMMMM!

A better question would be what cookie do I not like?
As long as they have a little crunch to them. I'm not a fan of soft cookies at all.

There's just so so many, mostly homemade:

Toll house
Oatmeal
Wedding cookies (snowball)
Pralines
Sugar cookies
Orange balls
Lemon squares
Chocolate drop cookies
Seven layer cookies
Christmas cookies with frosting and sprinkles
Oreos
Nutter butter (those make me go to sleep!)
Pecan sandies
Lemon cream sandwich
Little Debbie oatmeal cream pies

I'm sure I've forgotten a bunch. One time a neighbor brought some hommade Little Debbie Oatmeal cookies and they were TO DIE FOR - and from probably! When I asked for the recipe, she wouldn't say exactly! Grrrr!
ooooo......Christmas cookies with frosting and sprinkles!
and how could i have forgotten Pecan Sandies?

homemade Little Debbie Oatmeal Cream Pies sound like they'd be incredible! i found a recipe online for them -- http://www.mybakingaddiction.com/homemade-oatmeal-cream-pies/

Oh no you didn't!  I was just fine not knowing the recipe (although I could sort of guess).  Lol, now I'm gonna have to make these!!!

Btw, I always use salted butter in cookies.  They'd be too sweet otherwise.  Even the Toll House recipe calls for salt.  I think it brings out the flavors better.  Anyone else?

I LOVE a fairly heavily salted chocolate chip cookie. I mean extra salt, not just using salted butter. My mom gets some at the farmer's market that are sooooo good. I always raid her cookie stash when I go to their house, lol. I don't know that guy's recipe but yum, just SO good.

Macadamia white chocolate.
Chocolate and peanut butter.
Chocolate chip.

Which is odd, because apart, I don't like macadamias nor white chocolate
Mainly because it was what my grandmother would used to always get. So grew up with them happily. It's the only crunchy types I like.

So do I. There's something about the chocolate chips and the salt that's just so good. When I make my almond brittle at Christmas, I sprinkle a nice sprinkling of sea salt on top of the brittle right after I spread it out onto the cookie sheet. Sweet caramel and salt. It's just yummy.

I forgot to add the white chocolate chip and macadamia nut cookie on the homemade list.

Also, I found a recipe for the old-fashioned iced oatmeal cookies where the icing sinks down into the crevices of the cookie. I need to try those.

@Cassiopea, those cookies look good!

Salt and sugar are the very best of friends. I always use salted butter. I forgot Archway's wedding cookies. They are so good.

There are 2 bakeries in town and they always use UN-salted butter in their cookies, because I asked them.  I don't get it.  They taste bland without the salt.  In my Toll House cookies I use both salted butter plus the measure of salt it calls for, so maybe mine are extra salty but I wouldn't do it any other way.

It was pounded into people's heads for years to bake with unsalted butter. I have been baking from scratch since 1980 and have never used it. IMO, if something doesn't make sense, it's probably not right. Salt + sugar = true love. Add the the butter and some high quality vanilla extract and the warmth of that love just became a 4 alarm blaze.

My husband used to work as an engineer at Nestlé. He taught me to never buy salted butter - according to him they add the salt to mask the poorer quality of the butter. Which probably makes no sense, but that's what he's stuck to all these decades.

Way too much salt in American food. I rarely use salt. Very bad for one's health.

Salt is added to butter as a preservative. I have actually gotten unsalted butter in the past that had soured, but I've never had salted butter to sour. On the occasions where I have bought unsalted butter, I thought it tasted flat without much flavor. I can't see what difference it makes in recipes, either, because recipes always include some salt.

For homemade it would be a tossup between Oatmeal Chocolate Chip and Peanut Blossoms

For store bought it would be Fig Newtons.  I don't know why I like them the best of store bought cookies, there probably aren't many that would say that they are a favorite.
hmmm......oatmeal chocolate chip cookies......YUM!!!
well, except that i'd use carob chips, but i'm sure i'd love them!

i really like fig bars -- i buy the generic brand fig newtons at Aldi's. i also love dried figs!

For homemade cookies, I like Seven-layer Cookies the best. They are to die for, and with all that sugar, you probably will. I also love a butter cookie that I make for Christmas using the cookie press. I press them into tree shapes, dip them in white chocolate, and sprinkle with multi-colored beads.

I don't like store cookies very much except for Pecan Sandies and Chips Ahoy Chocolate Lovers chocolate chip cookies.
ahhhh, the seven layer cookies!
i was just over at the allrecipes website, and was looking at a recipe for cherry nanaimo bars --  http://allrecipes.com/recipe/234285...eferringContentType=recipe&clickId=cardslot 4   i just might make those around Christmas time for myself! those butter cookies you make for Christmas sound so pretty, and tasty!

another of us who likes pecan sandies!

I love so many, depends on my mood though as to what I like best. I love Oreos - the thin ones in particular. I love Pecan Sandies. Fresh-made oatmeal raisin cookies. Grasshoppers (kinda like Thin Mints). OOoooh and those chocolate covered coconut cookies (can't remember the name now).
yes!!! pecan sandies!
mmmm, oatmeal raisin cookies!
