Hi all, I just joined the forum. I'm trying to find more information about what my cat may have. Doc thinks it's FIP, but I know it's a tricky diagnosis.

Saturday night I took her to the emergency vet clinic with a fever of 105.6 and she was lethargic. With pain reliever, fluids and antibiotics, fever went away. I ended up taking her to a specialist, who took a sample of abdominal fluid and sent off for an FIP titer. The fluid showed chronic inflammation. The titer just came back with a level of 2048. Is this truly FIP then? There's some conflicting information on the internet.

I have two other cats who show no symptoms.

Any personal experiences with FIP or diseases that present LIKE FIP would be appreciated.

From what I understand, there STILL is no way to definitely diagnose FIP, although I think they are working fast and furiously on determing a way.  And there are conflicting thoughts on whether or not it's contagious, but last I heard it is NOT, so the fact that you have two others who aren't exhibiting symptoms doesn't mean much, really.

Let's just hope it isn't, because we all know it's NOT GOOD

From what little I know, if their fever RESPONDS to antibiotics, fluids, etc., that's a GOOD sign, not indicative of FIP.  Did they do the normal blood tests.  How were his RBCs?  Normal?

I'm not sure what titer test they did, so cannot respond to that question at all.
