The gingers will almost certainly be male. You're not planning to take everyone to the vet on Monday are you? Pebbles would be very scared & it would be a mistake to take the kittens anywhere yet. Others may disagree, but I definitely would not do this.

I concur with @Primula. I would wait at least a couple of weeks before taking them, unless, of course, it is an emergency.

You are doing a great job! Glad you are not letting other cats near momma. She would be very upset if other cats come near her little bubbas. All the little family needs is to be cozy & secure. Momma will eat much more now she has more tummy space. Kittens will wean at around 12 weeks or so & you can have them fixed & adopted then. Most likely they will not need a vet before that time. Don't take them earlier from their mother. I envy you because you are going to have so much fun with them.

Thank you primula yes i will be getting them spayed and neutered before they leave me I am giving her kitten food and they are in a very cosy big large dog cage with lots of blankets and some heat pads also so they will be warm when mom goes to eat, my male cats are locked away from her to insure the safety of her and her little baby's thank you

Be very careful with the heat pads. My foster had her kittens last September & I never used pads. When they are a tiny bit older you can hold them & you will know immediatey if they are warm enough. I don't know what your weather is right now, but they easily overheat with the pads. They really should be warm enough on momma's belly.

Definitely if you have heat going in your house already they should be fine. Keep in mind how tiny they are. I would imagine heat pads could - possibly - even burn them. Could be wrong about that so forgive me!

It is recommended in a cold climate that the heating pads be placed under the blanket and set on low, but that there be room for the kittens to move off if they get too warm.

Kittens cannot regulate their own body temperature for the first 3 weeks, so they need a heat source, unless you live in a warm climate. Kittens must be warm to digest their milk.

Kittens will begin to wean to soft solids around 5-6 weeks, but also continue nursing mom for quite a few more weeks.

Kittens get first vaccines at 8 weeks, and do not need the vet prior to then, unless they are unwell. Going in sooner can expose their immature immune systems to germs unnecessarily.

Mom may spot a bit for 7-10 days, and can be spayed when her kittens are 8 weeks old.

Can they see the kitten today?

My concern would be the bubble bursting and the kitten bleeding out. It needs to be properly closed up, perhaps with a stitch.

Yeah, I think I saw that the temperature in Inverness is around 48 degrees F right now.  We forget how chilly Scotland it, or most of us do.  I follow local news and weather in Inverness.

Thrilled you little family is doing well, and so sorry you lost one.  It may well have made it if mama had had good prenatal care from the start.  She is so lucky to have found you.

OH...welcome to TCS, by the way.  Go romp around and explore a bit.  There is a ton of information, and just fun stuff, as well.  I'm betting you make some wonderful friends here!  I know I have.

The kitten should not need putting to sleep because of it. The area may heal the way it is if left alone. Can you post a picture of it?
