My 3 month old kitten, Kuro, doesn't really play like at all yet he has tons of energy. I've tried da bird, wrestling with him with a stuffed animal, various little toys I can toss, and the little ball track thing. He meows every morning for me to let him out into the living room to go play but he only plays for like a few minutes all together, otherwise he just walks off to go roam around. He much rather attack curtains or a tag under the couch then his toys.

I know kittens love to play, which he does, but is there potential a toy you guys could recommend that he might go nuts over? Also please do not suggest another kitten, I know they will entertain each other but that isn't in the cards at this moment.

I've socialized kittens all my life and my biggest success was my sweet boy Simon (my avatar) who I found at the age of 2 weeks.

I have a few questions first...

How old is your kitty Kuro.

How big is the area where you try to play with him.

Keep in mind, while kittens like to play, they have the attention span of a fruit fly and easily distracted.

Get him used to a couple of toys at first.  I start usually with a fluffy small ball.  This being that kittens usually roll around with their litter mates at first, then sleep, then roll around and repeat... LOL

As they grow, then teach him about pouncing/hunting - playing with the bird on string toys, or cat dancer, etc.

But for now keep it simple, set up a little area, along with a shoe or boot box with an opening where he can get in and out, and he will associate that area as his own.  My boy squeezed his but in this, even at 5 feet stretched out at age 13. LOL.

I wouldn't wrestle with him, I made this mistake, and while it's fun when they are small, at 10 pounds it's pretty painful. Use toys always.

I would also stay away from the laser light toys until they are mature.  JMO

Do you have any photos you can share with us?

I hope you don't mind but I added a picture of my boy in his make shift playpen.

It gave him a sense of security, and he'd play and sleep in it for hours.

He is 3 months, he pounces and all of that he just decides that his toys are not as much fun as curtains or a random tag from under the couch. I've tried the whole move it like prey, hiding toys under stuff but he just stops playing after a minute or so but he still has tons of energy.

The living room is a decent size but he just wanders around and attacks the items I mentioned. Also the wrestling is with a stuffed animal I am holding, if he attacks my hand then I stop play time for a few minutes then try again although since doing this he doesn't attack my hand unless I pick him up when he is in play mode

I suggest setting up a play area, and he won't wonder, or it will cut down on the wondering.

It really does work.  I've done this with kittens as well as adult cats.  When cat's have too many toys around they get bored.  Simon would go to his toy box and take out what he wanted to play with as he got older.  Granted there were a few balls around the apt that he would whack around but for the most part, he'd let us know when he'd want to play.

How would you suggest I do that when he can already jump on my bed? Just trying to figure out the best way. I'm not to sure about a shoe box though cause he sort of tries to eat anything he can get his mouth on, typical kitten behavior, when I tried the whole paper bag thing he would play in in for a bit at first but now just chews on it.

I think his adult teeth are beginning to push his milk teeth out. Is their any toys that you know of that may help with this, I don't know if they sell teething toys or not but anything to help him would be appreciated.

Yep, his safe room is my bed room so he sleeps with me. He is definitely a jumper
