I am hoping to maybe this weekend or next week. The problem I am having is that I have used most of my resources this far on the other spays/neuters and the vet visit for the FIV+ cat so even if I get her this week it might be another couple of weeks before we can get her spayed, and if she is pregnant- how far along is too far to terminate the pregnancy? I have terminated pregnancy before when they were only one or two weeks along but I just am not sure how I would feel about doing it later... what are your opinions on this?

I'm not in favor of terminating once they begin to show, so my guess is she may be too far along by the time you get her. Does someone have her now, or is she living outside as a stray?

I think it also has to do with how old she is and how her health is. You'll know more once you have her.

She is a stray right now, do you think going off of her nipple pictures that she is already 2+ weeks? I am going to try to get her ASAP, but like I said I am not sure if I will be able to get her spayed soon enough if it is early enough for termination

Like I said, nipples pink up around the three week mark. If she's a stray, she's probably pregnant. I think you'll know more when you get her and can see her belly. But if the spay needs to wait a couple weeks for funds, you may have to let her have the kittens. Do you need to go catch her, or is someone feeding her who can get her for you?

Someone whos family member is feeding her is going to bring her to me today! I am currently at work, my boyfriend will pick her up and then when I get home I will quickly evaluate her then go to sleep because I work tonight. I should be able to update everyone tomorrow!

Ok, so I got home from work and my boyfriend went to go pick her up. I woke up and got her settled in in a dog crate for now then went back to sleep. In the morning I am going to clear out my spare bedroom and get it ready for her. She looks more pregnant to me than I was thinking. Like her belly looks very large... I haven't gotten a good look at her nipples or anything because I was just transferring her from her carrier to the dog cage.

Good you've got her now. I'm sure she needs worming, but she sounds too far along to spay.

I was going to ask, is Panacur safe to use if she is in fact pregnant? I am going to give Advantage II today for fleas and give her a better exam.

Yes, panacur is safe for pregnant cats, and will prevent the spread of giardia to her kittens. You do know that it requires a dosage of 3-5 days fo be effective.

Love that tortie face! Looks like my tortie who lived to be 21 years old. We'll see what her babies look like. So glad she is safe with you now! [emoji]128571[/emoji]

Someone from another rescue just messaged me and asked if I would like to spay/abort her right now because she could provide financial assistance towards the spay. I told her that I didn't feel comfortable doing it since she is so far along. But I know there are going to be TONS of kittens in a few weeks, so I feel guilty about it...

I understand. There's no easy answer, other than everyone spaying their cats and kittens early on before they get out and get pregnant in the first place. I wish the U.S. had spay/neuter laws like some countries, and that all vets made it more affordable. I think you made the right decision for this cat though. And yes, kitten season is starting already!

I just wish I would have been able to get her a couple of weeks ago when I took all of those cats to the low cost clinic.... I guess you can only do what you can. So overwhelming.

I will let you guys know as she progresses more, I think she still probably has two more weeks because I don't think I see or feel any baby movement yet... but it is hard to think that she still has over two weeks because her belly is so big!

I believe I felt her babies kicking this morning! This is my first actual pregnant cat so I am so excited! My others before either already had their kittens or they weren't really pregnant. I am too impatient!
