My kitten recently got injured on her back leg by our older cat Oscar. He's 2 and not over weight but he is a big cat. She hurt her back leg and with pain medication for 5 days she seemed to improve but she got into another altercation and hurt her front leg. We just noticed today she's no longer walking on ballerina feet, she is putting weight on her paw oddly and we don't know what to do. I wouldn't want surgery, she's 4 months and that would be too invasive (she's tiny).
Help !! Will it heal on its own? What can I do??
She's eating and moving around pretty well, she's limping but she's moving..

Hello - I'm so sorry your little girl is taking a beating.

My gal who is overweight walks on her "hands" so to speak, not her pads like most light footed cat's and I can see it taking a toll on her joints.

When your vet gave you pain meds for the first injury on her back legs, did they do an X-Ray?

I personally would be concerned with a fracture and not healing.  Can you take her back to the vet?  It may be something as easy as just taping it for a few days.

Does she let you touch her paw?  Can you get an idea of the amount of pain.

One think I've been learning is, cats are extremely good at masking their pain.

Fist step is calling the vet.

Good luck with your sweetie.

The first injury was to her hind legs and they said there were no breaks (thank goodness) and that she'll be fine and she was getting better but now this is getting worse.
She does let me touch it. I sleep on a high bed and she can't jump to it yet but she does climb her way up and last night she did the same. She isn't acting much different she isn't crying in pain but if you touch it she won't do anything different but then she'll be shaking later, like trembling. I think it's her in pain.. I feel horrible.

You should get her to the vet.  If it's a fracture it could heal badly, and effect her later in life.  You don't want this to be permanent.  She's too young to have issues with walking, jumping etc.  a whole other set of problems could happen later on if she loses interest  moving around.

I recommend calling your vet, the sooner the better.

I would get her into the vet for a check-up.  I would not worry about this being a fracture unless the vet tells you it is.  Sprains can also be very painful but they will heal faster with the right treatment.  A sprain would most likely not require surgery.  Hopefully this will just be a matter of getting some medicine for pain and swelling.  She is young and will recover faster with the right treatment.   Please let us know what the vet says.

I called the vet and they're booked until Monday
But the vet gave me a call and told me to send her a video of Lola walking. She's concerned about possible tendon tears and muscle damage but she said she'd evaluate the video. Here's hoping :/ :(

I hope you are able to get some answers after the vet views the video. if you are not able to get any answers from the video then perhaps you could find another vet in the area that would schedule for tomorrow. I had to call multiple vets in my area when I came home to a sick cat and my vets office was closed. I did not have the funds for an ER visit so I just kept making phone calls until I found a regular vet that was open and would see us right away. I actually stayed with the new vet after they stayed late on a Friday night to take care of my baby when they did not have any relationship with me yet.

Got back from the vet
She gave me 5 days worth of "Buprenex". She's already calmly sleeping on her bed. She said if this doesn't help her feel better within a week she'll take me in as an emergent case.
Thank you so much to everyone who showed concern for my baby and I!
I hope nobody has to go through any kitty emergencies :(
It's terrible
Thank you so much

Buprrenex is a very good pain medicine. Make sure to give it correctly: slowly squirt the medicine into the inside of the cheek. The medicine will be absorbed the lining of the cheek. The medicine will not be very effective if the cat swallows it.

Yeah the vet tech showed me how.
But thanks for the tip
She did it more of like a quick squirt
I'll do it slowly
Thanks!

What did the vet think, she twisted her leg or something to that effect?

You need to watch her, as I found out using Buprenex, cats are like people, when they take pain meds they feel like they can do anything.  He sure she's not too hard on that leg, she could end up injuring it more.

Glad it was nothing serious.  Nice!

I guess she saw it mostly as a "20lbs cat vs. 5lb kitten"
And we're guessing he pounced on her too hard and that could've done it. There are a number of things that could've happened. She's leaning towards a small tear in some ligaments, but she's waiting to see how she responds to treatment.
Yeah we have her isolated from the big cats now
And after we give her that she will usually be a bit sluggish, but even so we still keep a watchful eye.
I know he didn't mean to hurt her
But the size difference is a huge factor

Wow - That's a big difference.  Poor gal.  Happy it's not serious.

My boy was sluggish but as he got used to it he was hyper. LOL

good luck, keep us posted.
