Hello Forum, Romeo has stepped back from eating from not wanting to eat. Was taking his prescription food till he won't take even me syringe feeding but he will take some baby food. What should I do he going to be skin and bones. Think he is tired of the prescription food. Please any suggestions. Are they any other brand or something I can do for him. I'm very worried.

What is he on the prescription food for?  A kitty cannot safely go beyond two or three days without eating.  If your kitty is at that point then anything that he will eat is good. Plain meat baby food with no onions or garlic short term is fine.  Have you called the vet?

Romeo has been to the vet, He just got diagnosed with pancreatitis and poly cystic kidney disease. He is on pain medication plus reglan. He was doing good until yesterday. He acts like he is tired of the food doesn't really look appealing from my point of view. I'm giving him plain chicken baby food as a slurry and he will take that but the prescription food for his pancreatitis he don't want it. He is still taking water but I've got to get him to eat on his own..I hope it's not two steps forward then four steps backwards. Any suggestions, Thank you for your post:wavey:

First off, Romeo WILL recovery from pancreatitis. My older kitties---littermates, are just recovering from their 3rd bout. (2nd one this year). I nearly lost my female kitty!! So, I feel your stress.

Pancreatitis can also elevate creatin levels--I highly suggest getting those taken after pancreatitis has passed. (for kidneys that is--creatin measures kidney levels).

I have a whole pancreatitis 'kit' for my kitties that includes:

1. Bupernorphine (given in the cheek pocket) for pain

2. Metronitozole: For diarrhea

3. Prednisone (for inflammation)

4. Cerenia for nausea, though my male kitty gets stoned on this too much so we give him a shot at the vet.

Please ask your vet on how to administer these so you can make your kitty comfy. Sub cue fluids are also needed and I chose to have the vet do this as my boy is NOT a good patient with needles. Not with sub cue fluids (he seems to be ok with his b-12 shot).

It's taken my boy almost 3 weeks to start to become himself again, but he's almost 17. He also has a chronic bowel condition which I feel also hampers his recovery. My female was fine after a week. And she presented far worse!

HUGS!!! Make sure you get a bevvy of different food stocked: Kitties who have had nausea won't eat foods they used to. I also feed my kitties food for kidney disease (renal) and they LOVE it--wet and dry. Ask your vet about that.

Hugs to you and Romeo!!

Worried. Probably taking him this morning and dropping him off at the z Vet to get a Iv fluids and get the lab work. He is very weak and laying in his cat house looks depressed I know I am this is killing me. I've held on hope but maybe there is no turning away from this, Please Please don't take my little man. He normally will sleep with me but lies in his house Does Cerrina make them that sleepy . I am about sick I went through something like this 12 years ago with Piggie he didn't come home.* I wished I could be off from work to give him his feedings., I think not getting anything until I got home has hurt him.plus he got sick twice yesterday He tried to eat day before and ate some RF food on his own. I have had a so so day then a set back day.

I cannot help you, but want you to know I'm praying for you and Romeo. We always hope for the best and prepare for the worst. I cry for what you are going through and to let you know I admire you for your strength. You will be blessed for your love and caring, you are doing everything you can and I pray it turns out well. Keep your chin up, he needs your love so very much right now, your presence is all he wants. All the luck!

Cerenia gorked my boy out to the point I won't use it. See if they can give you something else for nausea--there's an injection they can give him. My boy would just sleep for 24 hrs and be very wobbly on his feet--this was when he was having pancreatitis issues. Some cats don't handle it well and that was a QUARTER dose!! So, my vets have said no to this for him.

Take a deep breath: When dealing with sick kitties, I know it all too well that you want to just cry and be with them. Romeo will be FINE. What you need to do is start a journal for Romeo to track his good and bad days and what was done. This way, you can look back and say 'oh, he liked this better'. Once you have a routine, Romeo will have more good days then bad, you will see when he needs to be hydrated etc.

HUGS!!!!
