I'd like to Vet our former feral, get his blood work, vaccinations and microchip.  He now handles like an exceptionally laid back pet for me and my husband but struggles to escape, runs and hides with visitors to our yard.  So I'm not sure how he'll handle for the Vet.  VEt suggested an oral sedative to put in his food the morning of.   Did anybody else do this?  How did it go?

I wouldn't worry. My Grisou is extremely skittish with visitors, but once in a tiny examination room where he couldn't escape and a calm and relaxed vet he never met before he actually let the vet pet him without issues. And purred.

You'll have him in a carrier of course, and let him stay inside right until the vet is ready to see him.

(He looks gorgeous!)

My oldest is a former feral and she just freezes.  UNTIL she freaks out.  They had to pull her off the ceiling once, not kidding.
