Tuesday night I thought my cat was going into labor. And everyday since she just sleeps, locks her belly and genital then sleep eat and use the bathroom. A little playful, and more clingy. I have libedts nests set up for her, because she can't choose. Lol. I'm worried though, should I be? I took her temp tonight and it was 99.4°F. Advise please. I didn't know how to post my own post. This is a pic from last night

Normal temp is 102 I believe. But drops below 100 when they're within 24 hours of having the kittens. Well so I've read. This is her 2nd litter and last time she didn't do any of this. Just jumped in my lap and I noticed her mucus plug was hanging out....but thank you. She's my baby.

This the other day was probably precontractions.  Humans have it too, as a way of mother nature to exercise and train the muscles in question.  Happens usually several days before the real delivery.

The waiting game isnt no fun, but cats seems to manage a little too long pregnacie better than humans.

The vice versa situation, early delivery, is much worse than with humans - kittens dont manage premature deliveries well.

With a human in a choice situation, its easy - just to get help with delivery, this way or another.

Its more tricky with cats, as too early provoked delivery is deadly danger for the kittens.

So, 19 out of 20, waiting is the wise choice.    And here too, as momma doesnt seems to be in any distress...

She is a real beautie, btw.

Please continue to report, even if nothing much new happens.

Right now she's just hanging out with me. I was petting her earlier and she was rubbing against me and I thought I felt something wet, but not a lot. May just been from licking? Idk. Her belly was rounder outwards earlier, now it seems to be going down. And I definitely felt milk on her ninnies when I was petting her. I just hope she's ok. I'll feel so much better when she has the babies. Her temp is like 99° so from what I've read, it should be soon. I'm afraid to go to asleep. In case of any complications.

aha, she is dropping.  And having milk oncoming...  Its nearing!

Grey is diluted black, so she does send on the black gene all right!

Do the grey one has some white spot as well?

Temperature isn't a reliable indicator, so I wouldn't bother. Instead, look for contractions that look like ripples on her sides.

No. The gray has darker gray stripes, and the black n white one had white paws. She won't leave my side. Like last time. Except to pee lol.

Ok, so it seems the gray is dad´s boy - whom was probably a tabby, and didnt carried no white.

Blackie is of course momma´s boy.   :)

mommas girl :-) I'm not sure who the dad is of either litter. Do they flick their tales a lot when they're going into labor?

Not always.  But I guess there may be some prelabor beginning, or such.

She got pregnant when her kittens were very young, which means that her reserves are very low. Can you start feeding her unlimited kitten dry food and several meals of wet kitten food per day? She can also drink a bowl of powdered kmr per day. PetAg is a great brand.

Mom will also need to stay 100% inside and away from intact males until her kittens have weaned. Would you like help locating a low cost spay and neuter clinic?
