That's good to hear. I'm cautiously optimistic but would keep a close eye on mama. She and her babies are so cute!

Ok so since I came home from work mama cat hasn't ate. I asked my husband are you sure she ate or was she just licking it (wet can good) he said he was pretty sure she was eating it. It didn't look like she had but it was mixed up so couldn't really tell . So I decided to blend the wet food in a blender and right away she started at it. Does anyone know why she would only eat the blended? I'm taking her back to the vet my self tomorrow I just couldn't get off today is why I sent my husband. I'm off tomorrow so I'm for sure taking her myself.

This is peculiar. Her taste buds may have changed since she had the babies. Could be hormonal.

What brand/flavor have you been feeding? She may need something different now.

I think you taking her back tomorrow is a good idea though.

I'm noticing that when she licks it after a few times she kinda opens her mouth like she's trying to get it to go down or something ? I'm just so worried [emoji]128546[/emoji][emoji]128546[/emoji]

It almost sounds like she has something stuck in her throat! An x-ray or ultrasound tomorrow may reveal something.

Is she eating the kitten chow? Most cats love kitten chow!

In the meantime, I suggest you go out and buy Gerber turkey or chicken baby food to give to her. It smells good, is easy to eat, and easy to digest. It's a bit expensive, but worth it if she will eat it. It's full of protein too.

Is she drinking a dish a day of kitten formula? She needs the extra calcium for nursing. Low calcium can cause seizures.

Walmart sells Gerber at a cheaper price than grocery stores, and they also sell PetAg powdered KMR, which is excellent.

You can also offer plain, full fat yogurt, cheese, plain boiled chicken and broth, and scrambled or boiled eggs.

This is very concerning!

UPDATE: took mamma cat to a different vet. He smelt a infection when he smelt her mouth. But said it wasn't to bad. No blockage . She got a steroid shot. And shot to make her milk come back she barely had any. We will be bottle feeding but he said shouldn't have to do it for long milk should drop by morning . Got a few cans of urgent cat wet food. She licked it alot and said that'd perfect cause just her doing that has everything she needs. And will bring her appetite back. Also have liquid antibiotics for mama and kittens. Please pray for mama and kittens [emoji]128156[/emoji]

Oh and it upsets me that the first vet didn't see anything but this vet found infection and little to almost no milk.

You bet I will be praying.  Could be a dental issue.  Keep blending the food, if that what works.  Right now, keeping her and the kittens fed are the most urgent thing.

I'm glad you saw a different vet. I had doubts about that other vet's expertise.

Good she now has meds and good food and will be feeding her babies again soon.

Are the kittens eating well in the meantime?

Keep us posted on their progress!

I have been trying to bottle feed them and they aren't taking so I took a break and they are on mama cat trying to eat. She had only very little but I'm going to keep trying.

Can you use a syringe?

Cats with moms usually won't take a bottle, but you can feed them slowly with a syringe.

Try it and let me know how it goes please.

Great! [emoji]128522[/emoji]

How much and how often are you feeding them until mom's milk comes in?
