I'm new here and I want you to meet Little Figgy. This is her story.
On June 17 my wife went to get an oil change. This kitten (see avatar) was found in the engine compartment of the car at Jiffy Lube. The kitten was about 6 weeks old, from a feral litter in the neighborhood. Of course it panicked, ran down into the lube pit, and spent the day under an oil tank. We had to trap her, then we brought her to the vet, covered with oil, where she was checked out and bathed. We brought her home and fixed up the front spare bedroom for her. She was pretty unhappy at this stage.
For the first few days she hid when we entered the room, and she screeched a lot in fear. We spent as much time just hanging out with her as we could. On the fourth day she ate while we were in the room for the first time. She likes eating very much. She also started showing interest in toys and play. On the 10th day my wife was able to pet her while she ate. The next day she had a full on love attack complete with rubbing and purring and mewing.
She's a work in progress. Right now we are working on socializing her with our old kitty, Checkers. There are challenges involved. I don't want to get too detailed with this post, I just wanted to say hi and share her story.
