I'm new here and I want you to meet Little Figgy.  This is her story.

On June 17 my wife went to get an oil change.  This kitten (see avatar) was found in the engine compartment of the car at Jiffy Lube. The kitten was about 6 weeks old, from a feral litter in the neighborhood. Of course it panicked, ran down into the lube pit, and spent the day under an oil tank. We had to trap her, then we brought her to the vet, covered with oil, where she was checked out and bathed. We brought her home and fixed up the front spare bedroom for her. She was pretty unhappy at this stage.

For the first few days she hid when we entered the room, and she screeched a lot in fear. We spent as much time just hanging out with her as we could. On the fourth day she ate while we were in the room for the first time. She likes eating very much. She also started showing interest in toys and play. On the 10th day my wife was able to pet her while she ate. The next day she had a full on love attack complete with rubbing and purring and mewing.

She's a work in progress. Right now we are working on socializing her with our old kitty, Checkers. There are challenges involved. I don't want to get too detailed with this post, I just wanted to say hi and share her story.

Welcome to TCS.  Your new little addition to your family is a little doll.  Would love to see more pictures of little Figgy and of course of Checkers.  Our members have excellent advice on how to introduce cats to one another and still keep harmony in the home, so don't be shy is asking about any questions you may have.

She is a lucky little girl to have your wife happen upon her.

awww what an adorable face! It won't take long for her to feel right at home. I found that most adult cats get used to kittens easier than older cats.

years ago when I got Pumpkin face as a kitten my angel kitty Floey hissed at her for two days straight and kept them apart but eventually she got used to Pumps. Pumps is an easy going girl and submissive so it helped that they didn't fight. Floey taught her how to play. It was so entertaining to watch them play.

Hoping for many years with your new addition!

Little Figgy is adorable. Welcome to TCS.  It also sounds like she is making a lot of progress adjusting to her new home quickly.  If you need advice on the introductions please feel free to post in the behavior forum.  I am sure there are people here that could give you tips.

Poor little Figgy.  She looks like she was on the verge of starving to death when your wife found her -- no wonder she's so enthusiastic about eating!  Thank you so much for rescuing this little mite.  It's a very good sign that she's beginning to play.

That is definitely the stink eye Checkers was giving the camera -- is she always that way with cameras or was her nose out of joint because of Figgy?

Yes, The Cat Site is definitely an international community, and you folks obviously belong here.  We're very glad to have you.

Welcome to TCS.  I love the pictures of Checkers and Figgy. Checkers looks like she couldn't be less pleased.  Meanwhile Figgy is all happy and "let's play".  Hopefully it won't take too long for them to become best buds.

That is her "you are not petting me" face.

That is an older pic. I posted it because I thought it was funny. She has been a bit depressed since we brought the kitten home. Seems to be getting over it now. She was playing today, and that's a good sign.

kittypa kittypa Such adorable kitties!
It is great that you rescued poor little Figgy. I am sure that Checkers will accept Figgy in no time. Adult cats are usually protective over little kitties. Figgy is one lucky kitty, she looks so happy!
Keep posting pictures of both kitties!

How's Checkers doing???  Warming up at all...  It won't be too long before Little Figgy is Big Figgy. LOL

Hope all is well.
Yes, Little Figgy is growing at an alarming rate.

Poor Checkers doesn't have any peace at all when Figgy is around. It's kind of sad. She clearly gets nervous after a while. The kitten is relentless.

The kitten is a kitten.  It sounds as if she's a very healthy one, too.

She will get more laid back over time; for now it may be best just to let Checkers chastise Figgy when Figgy gets too annoying.  If that doesn't take care of the problem you may need to enforce some "alone" time for the two cats, as in, occasionally lock Figgy in a different room (with water, litter box, scratching post, and lots of toys) so that Checkers can nap in peace.
