How do western people make their cats so fluffy or fat. I mean here in my country, Ph, even tho we feed them as much as 3x a day theyre still lean. Btw we feed then dry food. Are pure bred cats genetically inclined to be fatter than our native cats?

Fluffiness depends on what kind of cat it is- short, medium or long haired. Where do you live?? Do you have a lot more short haired cats there? We have the full range of cat types here in the US. I have 3 cats. My 2 girls are Persian so they are long haired and very fluffy. When their coats are in "full bloom" they look chunky when in reality, if they got a haircut, they are both smaller than the average Persian. Lilith is about 7 pounds and Sophie is about 5. My Henry is a domestic shorthair. He's about 10 pounds and he is long and quite lean.

As far as "fat" cats go, it all depends on the cat, how active they are and what/how much they are eating. I don't think it has much to do with where the cat lives.

Being fat is unhealthy for cats :(. So that shouldn't be a goal. But why are Western cats fatter and fluffier? Hmm. . .

Cats who are from cold climates do tend to have a heavier body set and thicker fur (gotta stay warm!). Hot-weather cats are generally lithe and thin-furred. So that might have something to do with it.

Neutering a male cat decreases his calories needs considerably. So if his food intake isn't cut back he'll get fat. There's no evidence that spaying a female decreases caloric need, but since a spayed cat doesn't go into heat and get anxious looking for males, she might eat more and gain weight. And of course pregnancy and raising kittens uses a lot of resources and calories. So if spay/neuter isn't common where you are, that could account for some differences.

American cats are mostly kept indoors. That means less exercise, usually. Americans also tend to overeat which can sometimes apply to pets too. That 1/4 cup of kibble just doesn't look like enough. . .:tongue2:.

Lots of reasons really :).
