My neighbor recently gave away her kittens. The person that received the kitten said that the kitten didn't eat for 5 days so my guess is that it was taken away from the mother too young. The only information that I could gather regarding the age was that it was born in May and it is almost 2 months old. They returned it to my neighbor and the mother cat won't accept the kitten back. My wife found it outside all wet ,cold and with ants over it. My wife cleaned the kitten up and placed it in a box with blankets and a warm bottle. My wife gave it a couple of drops of soy milk and the kitten gulped a bit of it but the kitten is very stiff. I am currently in the states and my wife is abroad in an island with no vet care. I wanted her to make a kitten glop but Karo syrup and evaporated milk can't be found. What are some steps that she can take in order to recuperate the kitten.

What sort of island is it?  So we may have an idea on what may be there?

as said, goats milk  is good, Choose this if you have any choice.

Buffalo milk is OK, sheeps milk should be OK,  we usually dont recommend cow milk, but if you can get raw unpasterized cow milk from local cows, its probably better than processed - so its not the same ban....

Plain usweetened full fat youghurt is OK.

Honey is good instead of Karo syrup.   Or if you can find real glucose sugar (Dextrose, dextropur) its even better.

Common sugar can be used in a pinch, but its much slower, and must be digested.

As already done, keep the kitten warm - ie give it an active heat source.  Massage it by rubbing it with a towel and or a brush - toothbrush is useful.

Hopefully the kitten may be saved, but with such maltreatment as you described, it may be too late...

Very sad update @Halfamill.  Thank you for  doing everything you and your wife could for this little one.  As Stefan has said, being loved and cared for makes all the difference.   This little one was not alone.

The TCS team would like you to know that we are so very sorry for your loss.  While this tiny kitten was new in your lives the heart break can still be overwhelming.  Hard too that you and your wife were not able to be together with the kitten and to support each other more closely through this.  Threads are locked after someone has suffered such a loss, as a sign of respect. We invite you to place a tribute at http://www.thecatsite.com/f/19/crossing-the-bridge  as an enduring testimony to this little one.
