I wish everything wasn't digital!  I really dislike things that do it all for you.  I have a sixteen year old car that I still unlock with a key and wind the windows down myself and I intend to keep it going as look as I possibly can!

I can see why you're feeling peeved, @Winchester... Cooking is so much your thing.

That was our stove at our first place.  DH bought it in 2001 from a retirement home where it had barely been used.  He eventually bought that appliance spray paint and painted it white.  1 of the burners was getting a little wonky when we sold the place; but it worked!   I don't remember the brand.  But I do know our old dryer was a GE and the same model my grandparents had when I was a kid.  They always bought GE appliances.  Both my Grandfathers retired from GE.

Our first fridge was Avocado. Our kitchen was done in Harvest Gold and Avocado. Remember that combination?

My son works for GE now, but he buys Subzero fridges and Bosch dishwashers. Only top of the line will do for him.

I have that harvest gold color tile, toilet, tub, and sink in one of my bathrooms now
It's all in perfect shape and the tolerating the color vs. the cost of replacement, I just work with it instead of against it.

I've had the avocado and the gold appliances......but what was the brown color called??  I lived in one house that had a kitchen in that color and I actually liked it.

I don't remember what the brown was, but in my last house (25 years ago), the kitchen all had those brown appliances. I hated it, and it looked horrible with the avocado fridge.

Oh wow I can only imagine having a combo of them!  Whew!  I had the brown that was sort of burnt orange, that went to a very dark brown.  It had wood cabinets and a fireplace in the kitchen/dining room combination, and somehow it all jived together.  I can't image that oogy green with it.

I think the only reason I could live with the brown in that house is because it went with the rest of the décor---which was kinda early 70's ranch-house.  It just worked.

My yellow bathroom though....meh.  I'm stuck with that until we can dump some serious bucks into it.  It is nauseating yellow LOL

My Grandmother's bathroom is tiled floor to ceiling in harvest gold!  Fortunately they used a white toilet, tub and vanity.  The floor was a beige and harvest gold mosaic tile.  Gram always had dark avocado green towels and bath mats.  On the wall is a gaudy ornate gold mirror with lights that put off enough heat to warm 3 of her bathrooms.
It matches the white laminate top to the vanity that has veins of gold running through it.
Most of the tiling is in good condition except for the outside wall that lost a few tiles when they had insulation blown in.

At some point a very small half bath was put in the basement of their house. The toilet and sink are avocado green in there.  We always referred to that as "Grandpa's Bathroom."

I don't know what they are going to do when it comes time to sell that house.  I think most or all of the kitchen appliances are from the 80s. But they WORK!  At least the cabinets they chose then are pretty classic in style and color and good quality.

My cousin has a mauve bathroom.  Toilet, sink, floor and half the wall are all the same shade of mauve.
I find that worse than the gold for some reason!  She's itching to have it redone!  They moved in when she was heavily pregnant and her baby just turned 1 a couple months ago. So they haven't been able to just yet; but I think it's pretty high on the list of home-improvement projects.  The kitchen is dated but livable.  It's white and black with rounded cabinets.  Interesting and not my taste; but livable!   Way better than gold, green or mauve!

We've been redoing rooms one at a time, our kitchen is done but I still have the 1976 oven! It's an odd size built-in, so hubby painted the door black and it's just fine with me. I'll keep it until it croaks! Ive only found one that will fit and it is about $800, so this one needs to last a few more years. I just know a new hot water heater will be needed soon [emoji]128534[/emoji]

In a house that we rented years ago, the main color in the bathroom was lilac. Oh, it was gorgeous! The wall color, the tiles, even the tub, toilet, and sink were lilac. There were so many things that I truly loved about that house and the lilac bathroom was one of them. White cabinets in the kitchen against sun-burnt orange walls. Beautiful. A southern exposure in the kitchen so lots and lots (and lots!) of natural light. Huge rooms. A fireplace in the living room with a gorgeous walnut mantle. Large front porch that I used to turn into a plant area every summer. Finished basement (with a root cellar!). I loved that house.....but the landlord was an idiot. (We rented that house with the option to buy it after one year and all the rent was to go toward the down payment. Well, after the year was up, even though everything was in writing, the landlord reneged on the agreement. It wasn't worth going to court over and we built the house we're living in now. But I really loved that house.)

Was the brown called Coppertone back then?  http://www.colorcombos.com/kitchen-appliance-color-choices-article.html An interesting article.

I had an old Hamilton Beach stand mixer in Harvest Gold. Our GE washer was Harvest Gold, too.

Our kitchen now has stainless appliances. While I like the look, I don't like all the fingerprints. They're a hassle to try to keep clean. And since we got the black cooktop, I realize just how often our cats surf the counters!
 Pawprints give them away.

Wow! That's a lot for a repair. Your oven isn't that old, is it?

My last house had a bathroom with blue fixtures. :lol3: My mother's bathroom still has the yellow/gold fixtures.

Oh my Subzero fridges are top of the line especially price wise.  Does he also have a stove from them, I think they call their stoves Wolf.  They are really nice but at that price they should cook the whole meal automatically.

I don't know what brand the stove is, but it's one of those commercial-type stoves. They don't stint on anything. Even their soap is imported.

My brother's apartment has one orange sink (bathroom) and one burgundy sink (kitchen) :lol3:. The orange is the usual burnt orange from the '70s but I didn't know they liked burgundy back then too! At least everything else in the apartment has been updated but I guess the landlord didn't want to waste perfectly good sinks ;).

That is truly a dream stove!!  I love the red.  Ooooo I'd have to win the lottery or something to have one of those.

The repair guru gave me a courtesy call yesterday; the circuit board hasn't come in yet. He was hoping to get it soon and be able to get it installed, but no such luck. I thanked him and said that, between the microwave and the grill, we were doing OK. He's hoping to get it this coming week.

We're supposed to be going over to my sister's for the July 4th picnic on July 2nd and I am to bring cookies, crock pot beans, and either potato salad or my 7-layer salad. I told her that the beans and salad are not a problem, but the cookies might be an issue if the board isn't here by then. Her response? "No problem! C'mon over and bake the cookies at my house! I have wine!"

He just called.....the circuit board is in and he'll be over some time on Friday to install it.
I told him I was holding him to that and that I was making cookie dough tonight to bake cookies tomorrow. He laughed and said he'll definitely be here!
