We can't see the vet until Monday - Kitty's eye had been weeping since yesterday and looks a whole lot worse today. Its a little greenish too and he is going through some IBD and cancer testing do I don't want to let this go.

What can I do until Monday?

can you call the vet and let them know there is green discharge? vets often will let you bring them in as eye problems can go bad to worse in short time.

depending on what bacteria is there-they will need to examine the eye to see what would be appropriate antibiotic if its bacteria. if its viral they will want to do antiviral meds but sometimes there isn't a med for herpes virus.

you can use a wet clothe warm water and wipe the eye gently. you could call up and ask if you can add saline eye drops to the eye. or they may prescribe ointment to tide you over until Monday. usually its an antibiotic ointment/drops.

but you can try to keep the eye clear from the gunk. kitty may do best sitting on the floor while you kneel behind him/her and wrap hand under chin to lift face so you can see and wipe. they will try to get away so by having their back against your stomach-they cant back up and take off. offer treats or something yummy afterwards so they will not run and hide the next time. most cats love treats or a yummy snack.

can you post a photo of this eye? The vet may also have an email address you can send as an attachment from your phone/computer and they may be able to help without bringing cat in until Monday- but I would call them-you may be surprised and they will say bring them in.

in Jan/Feb? my pumpkin face had a scratch on her eye-they had me bring her right in after a week of using the ointment they sent me home with-it wasn't clearing up. so they used two dif ointments after-it was for 14 days then they wanted to see her to do that dye wash on the eye to see if the scratch was gone-it was-luckily it cleared up. She had a cold and they think herpes virus caused issues. this is just to give you an idea of what may happen when your cat is seen.

So, we did the ointment for about a week and the eye cleared up... then the other eye started so we did another week on both eyes. I stopped a couple days ago and now both eyes are filling with mucus within hours of cleaning. This just started today and my vet is closed tomorrow. Has this ever happened to anyone? Suggestions? He continues to struggle with digestion issues as well :(
