Meowing from another room

I'm just curious if anyone else's cat does this lol. My mom and I both have himalayan cats from the same parents just born in different litter and they both do the same thing. My mom and I live in separate homes. My cat will be in the same room as me then walk into another room then start meowing. I call his name and he runs back. My mom's does the same. It's like he walks away and gets lost and wants to be found.

I had one like tis who liked to "announce" whenever he went somewhere. When he was younger, it was entertaining (he was a very low-key cat, so it seemed like he was doing to give the other cats in the house time to protest if he wasn't supposed to go somewhere), and as he got older we figured out he did it because his hearing started to go and he'd actually lose track of where everyone else was. We'd answer him and he'd seem happy again.
