Hi I was just wondering if anyone can help me.
My cat was leaping about a week ago one of he's back legs it got better and is fine now but he's neck drop when he walks he don't lift it up been like it 2days now.
We took him vets yesterday as I thought he may have low potassium levels like he did before but everything come back fine.
The vets did say he was abit dehydrated but not serious. He seems fine in himself he had abit of food today and abit of milk.
Just like some advice or what it could be as if he hasn't got low potassium levels why he's neck drop

Did your vet test for anything other than low potassium levels?  From what I've read, hyperthyroidism and diabetes sometimes cause this effect.  Also, it sounds like your kitty may have fallen since you mention the hurt leg and I'm wondering if an x-ray would be helpful.  An ear infection or vestibular disturbance may also be responsible.  Even a bad tooth can make a cat hang it's head down.

What did your vet advise you to do?  Are you just supposed to wait and see what happens or did (s)he recommend more tests?

Also, I'm wondering how old your cat is?

You mentioned you gave him some milk - be careful with this as many cats can't tolerate cows milk.  Goats milk is much better.

If this does not clear up soon, I think you should take him back to the vet for a follow-up.

Please let us know what you find out and how your cat does.  And welcome to TCS!

My cats nearly 2years old . The vet done a full blood test and everything come back ok there was 2 things that was abit high but nothing to worry about that what the vet said.
The day he's neck dropped I rang vets ASAP as a few months back this happened and he has really low potassium and could of died was wasn't chancing it. I put him in the cat basket and he neck seems to be fine when he was in the basket and the whole time he was out the vets and after he had blood tests and the vet said there was nothing really wrong apart from he seems abit dehydrated.
But the vet did want to do another test I think it was to see why he was dehydrated but I said I see how he goes and then as soon as we arrived home and I open cat basket he neck drop again it was so strange and that was yesterday he going out and seems himself just walks with neck down but if I click my fingers above him he can lift head [emoji]128533[/emoji]
Also with the milk thing because he hasn't been drinking water I needed to give him something he had a little bit of food today and I've been putting water in a syringe a trying to put abit in he's mouth I just don't know what to do as he normal in himself

I wish I knew more about this kind of condition - hopefully someone who has had experience with it will see your post and comment - but it does seem troubling to me.  It sounds like he's not drinking or eating well either, which is even more reason for concern.  Since there are so many things that cause this, it's probably wise to take him back to the vet for that test.  He's a young cat and shouldn't be having these kinds of problems. If this keeps up, and the vet doesn't give you an answer, you might want to get a second opinion.  I hope you'll keep us updated on his progress - and I really hope this clears up on its own.

What is his name?  And do you have any photos of him?  We love photos here at TCS and would love to see him.

Shadow is really beautiful!  He has a gorgeous coat, really unusual.  And a very sweet face.
