Cataan thank you for the water suggestion! I've been wondering how to do that better - he really hates when I feed him water by he drinking it like you said ;)

His eyes are a little sunken from the dehydration so the weeping looked a lot worse than I thought. Just one eye is weeping and greenish, however after just one swipe of eye antibiotics it seems less green. The tears are more brownish and clear already too.

Phew! One problem solved!

is he still on steroid? can you try canned food turkey flavor by fancy feast classics? meat babyfood works- gerber/beechnut. my cats LOVE the ham one. but you can try any of the flavors. Do you have anymore of that salmon steak left? heat some up and feed him some. Rotisserie chicken is good-no bones/skin. temptations treats or freezr dried treats from blue buffalo or other company? Tuna? don't get the white meat-get the dark meat-light tuna-it has more of a fishy flavor. my cats won't touch white tuna only light tuna (which is dark tuna)

No appetite stimulant because he seems to still ask for food but this morning when he asked I set out bowl after bowl of different foods and he rejected them all. He took 2 bites of the last bowl and went to his hiding spot. He's getting clever. He knows if he won't eat I'll feed him water from a pipette which he hates so he runs. He's been hiding all day so I can't give him the steroids. I'm so scared we are reaching the end :( he laid by us for a while last night, it was really nice to just feel normal with him a little. Unfortunately his new hiding spot is unreachable by me. He's under the far corner of a long desk. I can see him but not reach him. He's lost 7 pounds since march... he's withering away :(

sounds like nausea. he needs anti nausea meds: Cerenia/Zofran are two choices. Cerenia is injected under the skin or pill form. Zofran is pill but ask for a prescription written out for generic-its cheaper.

When the upset stomach is resolved, he may eat.

Maybe I can ask the vet tomorrow about the zofran... if he makes it to morning. I wish he'd come out of his hiding spot. I miss him already.

No I had decided a long time ago that I will let him go if he can't take care of himself. He has always been a proud little wildcat, I just can't put him through that. He hates the water feeding from the pipettes, I can't imagine anything more invasive.

Update: Kitty has improved as far as no vomiting and no bloody stool. He continues to have soft bowel movements but also continues to ask for food. However, he doesn't eat much and I keep giving him water with the pipette. He is still a very picky eater and I'm not sure if we are over the hump yet.

How can i get him to eat more without forcing him?

I know only too well your situation. PLease, PLEASE, ask your vet if your kitty might be dehydrated. Often, when they aren't eating & drinking, it is because dehydration is causing them to have sores in their mouth from undiluted acids. ....imagine - having those painful sores in your mouth, and that is why you dont/cant eat or drink....cats don't show pain since they are more prey than predator. When they do meow or moan, things are really, really awful for them.

I am not trying to be mean - but I recently lost my cat Cinder Cone, "Cindy", to renal failure. She could hardly eat or drink....and she couldn't tell me about those mouth sores. When I took her to the vet, the vet made sure that I know now about those mouth sores. We had to release her from her suffering - it was difficult, but the only humane thing to do. It was the right thing to do.....I still miss her - she used to sleep with me & now I have trouble sleeping without her. She saw me through the sad losses of divorce, my dad dying in our yard, my 2 horses dying (they were 38 & 36 yrs old, so they were family icons), the loss of 3 dogs, my nephew dying, my house getting foreclosed, losing my job, my disabled daughter's cancer journey....big challenges of life that were made endurable for me by some very special headbutts & purrs from a 7 lb. cat! My only regret was that I couldnt take her to the vet sooner and she knew such pain those last couple of days (our vet was on her annual vacation & the nearest other vets require full payment up front). Cindy is okay now, free from earthly troubles and miseries.....remember, your TCS family is here for you, to see you through these tough times, no matter what your decision.  {{{{hugs}}}} Susan

He was severely dehydrated because he really wasn't eating. I have been feeding him water with a pipette each day but some days he would run and hide in places I couldn't reach hime for hours. I continued the water and tuna water as well but he's just not bouncing back this time. Too many days without enough nutrition. I am heartbroken.

That is very upsetting news, poor boy give him all the love you can. Tell him how special he is and how much you love him. I am praying for him

No we didn't do subcutaneous fluids because he had been accepting the pipette and tuna water up until yesterday... thank you for the prayers... he is my one and only, I don't know how to do this alone.

Well I decided he might feel more comfortable in his own bed so I picked him up and he peed on me... I think he will need to go tomorrow... I think today needs to be his last bad day. He looks miserable and uncomfortable. He's not resting, he's just laying there open eyed slowly breathing. I just need to get brave and let him go. I just need to call tomorrow and do the right thing. It's been a slow process getting to this point, I'm not ready to let him go but I need to be his saving grace and end his misery. I am so lost without him already.

I'm so sorry that you and your boy are at this point. Letting him go would be a wonderful kindness to do for him. Try to think of it that way as much as you can. So, so very sorry.

Thank you. I sincerely hope he makes it through the night. I'd hate for him to go alone even if it is in his own bed... idk how I'll sleep but it's doing nobody any good for me to sit up crying. I wish I would have taken him today really... I think I'll feel better for both of us once he can rest. He looks so uncomfortable.
