Molly passed today with the help of the wonderful people at Burlington Animal Hospital.  Special thanks to Dr. Deanna Tickle.  We just met three days ago and I feel as if she is an old friend already.

I wasn't going to bring Molly in for a few days but I noticed she was dragging herself to the potty and knew it was time.  She was never a cuddly kitty - a head scratch once in awhile was fine with her.  But these last few days, she slept with me and cuddled during the night, so I am happy I was able to give her some comfort.

She came to us with her brother Halsey as three-week-old kittens.  We bottle fed them and had no idea what we were doing.  She always had "eye boogies" because she never learned to wash her face.  It used to annoy her no end when we'd get a damp washrag and clean her face - just like a kid.

I realize now, that like me, she got cranky when she was in pain.  The last few days, she wore a permanent "pissed-off" look that makes me smile now.  Cats are hard to read but I believe Molly was letting me know how she felt.  She's at rest now.

Rest in Peace dear sweet Molly.  Run free no longer in pain.  Look down on your Momma as she will need your help.

I am so sorry for your loss of precious Molly.  There are no words that can lessen your sorrow and sadness.

Please accept my deepest condolences.

Run free Molly and rest in peace, free from having your face washed but remembering all those loving head scritches.

I can only imagine how close the bond is when you have bottle fed and raised a cat from such a tiny kitten as you did with Molly.   How precious that she gave in and allowed you to comfort her these last few days, or perhaps she was comforting you @Ondine  .   She has the sound of a pretty wise cat and knew she was in your heart.

Molly sounds like a wonderful lady with a special personality that will always be remembered.Let those special memories comfort you in the future, they are so very precious to us in our time of need.  It's so very hard to know that their time has come, but there is no way in the world we would ever let them suffer for one second longer then they need to, we love them too much for that.  When the quality of life has deteriorated, and their dignity starts to suffer, it us time to let go and take on their pain as our own broken heart. I know how empty the house seems now, and how lost you feel. Time is the only thing that helps, that and the knowledge in your heart that you gave that wonderful cat a loving home and a wonderful family. All she ever wanted was love and you made sure she received that, she will rest in peace secure that she will never be forgotten in this world and will be held in loving hearts forevermore. I will keep you all in my thoughts and prayers, pass on the loving legacy she left you in her name. You already do so much good for the felines of this world, far more then you realize. She has gave you insight into the world of cats, use your experience to help others as you do now, you will be blessed for your caring heart. You know you have the support of everyone on this site, we are all of one family and will mourn with you at the passing of this wonderful girl. Although she is gone from your life, she will never be gone from your heart. Take care........ RIP sweet Molly, please send comfort to those who miss you so very much, let your star bring light and warmth to their hearts from the Rainbow Bridge  and your purr bring them comfort on the gentle breeze!

Thanks, everyone.  Last night was a little strange because she wasn't on the bed next to me.  But I do feel we helped end her pain.  She's safe now.

I'm so sorry for your loss. May Molly rest in peace. :rbheart: There was no doubt that she lived a life well loved and cared for, and for that she was a lucky cat indeed. I'm sure despite her non-cuddly attitude, she loved her humans back. :heart3:

I'm really sorry to hear about Molly.  She sounds like she was a very special little girl.  Those last few nights together must have been so bittersweet.  She obviously loved you very much and I'm sorry she had to leave you.

RIP Molly.

So glad you were able to cuddle her in those last days!

I didn't cuddle the Rogue (I didn't know he was to die, and just dragged him out of hiding several times a day to force bad-tasting medicines and food down his throat). And I terribly regret that.

Thank you for loving her like you did, and thank you for relieving her from pain.

Surely she is teaching all kinds of things to the Rogue now, who is quick to pick up anything he considers a bad habit, and in turn he'll teach his whole repertoire

Thank you.  Please don't regret doing something you thought would help Rogue.  He knows you cared about him.

@Ondine, I'm so very sorry for your loss. I popped into your other thread about moving from time-to-time, and I was incredibly sad to read about Molly's diagnosis. Cancer really sucks.
I know this feeling of "strangeness". My life was turned upside down when I lost Sebastian two months ago. Everything is strange without him.

You are free from pain now, Molly.

Thank you, everyone.  still strange without her.

@Stewball- Halsey is still here, trying to be top cat.  I think he's being given a run for his money though.  Alfred, sweet, laid back Alfred, is beginning to look like the alpha cat.  Who'd have guessed that?

The late sweet molly must have been keeping her female paws on the necks of the males. Such a shame she's gone but that's part of living with cats. I hope I don't go first.
