I am soooo worried for Harry, my 18yr old cat!

Harry rt eye watering, his lower lip chin area crusty looking (no sores)and will only eat mushy food. Also sneezing? I made a vet app.for this  wk.

Making the appointment was a good thing to do, I hope he is ok. Let us know what the vet says  

The eye watering and sneezing could be a sign of an upper respiratory infection, or could be allergies.  Has this happened before?   Is that mushy food stinky?  Sometimes when they get stuffed up, they tend to only eat stinkier foods than normal because if they can't smell their food, they don't eat it.  If you think he may be stuff up, you can try warming up wet food so he can smell it better, and also try putting him in the bathroom with you when you shower so he can take advantage of the steam in the room. (All of this is just what to do PRIOR to your Vet visit...hoping that is soon)

As to his chin, that may be totally unrelated.  That almost sounds like the beginning of feline acne, unless it's his mushy food that he's not getting thoroughly cleaned off his chin. 

But 18 years old!  Wow, you must be doing something right.  Harry to have you.  That's fantastic

I feel so blessed for all your warm wishes & concern for Harry. Took him to dr. yesterday not good news!! Did blood work & I got meds. He has a tumor & surg is $ 1600..with no sure thing. Since I'm on chemo etc not working can not afford. But more important I cant put him thru all that. Hes not in pain the meds are taking care of the infection. Today hes playing, drink, eat... I'm loving him, pampering- when he shows signs of pain and declining, I will do the right thing for my angel.

So sorry to hear this news - you must be devastated. You have done well by him to get him to this age in reasonable health and happiness. I am sure you will continue to do your best for him, and show him the love and care you have for him.

BTW, I'm so sorry to learn Harry has a tumor.  Hopefully it's a slow grower and you'll still have lots of time with him

I am sorry to hear about the tumor. I hope it is not cancer, is there a chance that it is not malignant ?

 well finally I posted a pic of 1 of my angels- HARRY

Harry had a scare the other night.  Lisa pm'd me with the message as she was having issues getting her post to take.  Here is her pm to me:

"I wrote an update a few days again but now I cant find it and I did click on post? anyway, emergency vet visit fri nite. I went into the liv rm to check on him and blood everywhere. I finally got him out from under the dining table and I was trembling so bad he was covered in blood. Obviously couldn't drive called my friend and I got ready in less than a minutes rushed harry in and scream for the dr. They stopped the mouth and ear bleeding. Gave him an oriental herbal pill with a shooter cause its the only way to buy this med. They hydrated him with the hump on his back etc... told me to only give him Friskie Pate- it has water in it and its smooth consistency. This was fri nite. Sat not good but yesterday he ate dinner, drank water and taking his meds. They said I will know when to bring him in for his journey to cat heaven. Hes not in any pain. I'm a helicopter mom since- I just don't want to leave him right now., my heart aches.. this is the up to date. If u can post for me to the few others concerned on this site- I would be most appreciative., have a blessed day. The did find another tumor in his ear so that's why it was also bleeding from scratching., I think I forgot to mention that part."

Aww... I am so sorry to hear about your Harry. I wish him and you all the very best. I hope you are coping well through this!

I'm so sorry to hear about Harry.  This is such a hard time for you right now - a lot of us have been there and know what you are going through.   During my Milo's last days, I wrote a lot about him and found that after he passed, the writing helped me feel reconnected to him.  I hope Harry continues to be pain free.  Like the vet said, you'll know when it's time.  Many scritches to Harry.

thank u all and this site is a blessing- especially ms greenjeans for guiding me through this site with all my questions and help.. Today I had to call the vet to update them and everything went downhill for my angel Harry! The vet said even with the major surgeries the prognosis is not good cause of the location of his tumors. Now he is in a ball in the back of the closet. He wont eat, drink etc.. Tomorrow I made the devasting appointment to send him to kitty heaven. Gracie my other angel is very sad- she can sense whats happening. I know I'm doing the best thing for him and as my heart is breaking, I don't want him to be in pain and keep him here for my selfish reasons. I will miss him soooooooooo much. G D bless all of you animal lovers and again I'm grateful to all of you for the kind words and support- especially cause you all get it, having cats of your own. I will post in a few days.

Oh no that is very upsetting news. I am so sorry that this awful day is coming so soon. My thoughts and prayers are with you and Harry 

you kind word mean so much and most appreciated cause like I wrote- you get it, the heart break, making the decision, etc.. every emotion that goes along with this sad time.

Tell the sweet boy how much he is loved and what he means to you, and that you will always carry him in your heart over and over. I know he will understand.
