Add Images To Posts And Articles

  1. In a forum post or article, find the Image button which looks like this:

Click the button to open the Image Tool. It will bring up this dialogue box -

    * If you've never uploaded photos to the site before, you won't see any images where it says "My Recent Photos".
You can choose one of these three ways to upload an image -

    A. Uploading from your Computer:
To upload and insert an image saved on your computer, click "Browse."  You will be able to browse your computer to find the image you would like to upload.  Simply highlight your desired image and click "Open."

    B. Insert a photo you have uploaded before:
Once you have correctly uploaded an image, it can be re-used in other posts by using this feature. You can see all of your recently uploaded images in the dialogue box (see the screenshot above).

    C. Uploading using an image URL (Advanced):
You can also upload from an image that you have or see online but this is a slightly more advanced tool, requiring you to know what an image URL is and how to get it. An image URL is the address of the picture file on the web, also known as the image URL. Usually you can get the image URL by right-clicking on an image and selecting "Copy Image URL". Once you do, the URL is copied to your clipboard.
Now simply paste that URL in the box that says "An Image URL" and hit "Use URL". The system will try to grab the image from that URL for you to use.

  2. Whichever method you chose, your image will be loaded into the system, and you'll have to select the display settings -

Hit "Submit" and voila! The picture should now appear in your post.

Adding A Video To Your Post Or Article

The process of adding a video to your post is called embedding. You can't upload a video directly to the site. Instead, you can embed a video that's already uploaded to YouTube or VMEO it in a way that allows it to be played directly on the site.

Please make sure you actually embed the video rather than simply linking to it. Here's how you can embed a video -

  1. Find the video icon in the editor -

Clicking this icon brings up a simple dialogue box -

  2. The embedding tool supports videos from YouTube and Vimeo. You need to get the appropriate Video URL there.
On Vimeo look for the icon that looks like this:

On YouTube look for the icon that looks like this:

Clicking on these icon should bring up a box with the video URL which looks like this -

Highlight that link and click CTRL+V to copy.

  3.

Back to the dialogue box here on TheCatSite.com, simply paste the URL in the box:

Hit Submit. That's it! Your video will now appear in the post!
