No, this is normal.  She is playing and disciplining with the kitten.  If he doesn't seem to be injured everything is fine.

It's true what Talkingpeanut said but sometimes they can get carried away they

pin them down at the throat all cats do this to kittens. When they reject them (thought

that's what was happening) they will shove with their nose mouth trying to revive by being rough.

Kicking with back legs normal rough play.  When very young mom's will try to keep

kittens away from male cats because they will automatically hit the kitten over the head to show

dominance.

In general, if she wanted to hurt him, he would be hurt. Definitely supervise, but it really does sound like all is well.

I think you should take the kitten away. Take kitten to the vet there might be something wrong with it. They say moms can sense it.
And reject the babies.
True, momma can often reject a baby with a fault on it.  In these cases the caretaker / owner must step in - its often possible to save the kitten.  As you say.  :)

But she is not beating the kitten up before rejecting.  She just carry away it.  Which is easy - the kitten is usually weak at that time.

Although a momma may try to carry around a kitten by a number of reasons, trying to find a new nest for example.  So dont get panic and shout "abandoned kitten" as soon you see momma takes a kitten elsewhere.   We watchful, try to help and arrange things, but you dont always need to take over the maternity care.

Welcome to TCS!

He's just not ready yet. Try again when he's six weeks old. My kittens did much better at 6-7 weeks.

It sounds like he's doing fine. Is he eating solids yet? If not, mom is still cleaning him.

No solids yet. Just some KMR sometimes when Mama doesn't want to let her suckle for long. .

He had been trying to eat the kitty litter. .
I switched to the clay brand and not the clumping type...
How do I stop him...
I pull him out and take out the litter but he still does it..
Ughhhhhhh.
