Hello all! I'm brand new to this site, but drop by and read questions and answers when I'm unsure about something..

Well here's the deal... My boyfriend and I rescued a stray a year ago who came to us pregnant.. well.. we were short on on money to get her spayed, and due to one of my boyfriend's friends letting her slip out the front door one night, she is now pregnant. She is a petite cat, and her nipples are certainly plump and hanging (especially the lower pair). I noticed a small dried up brownish discharge on her lady parts a few days ago, and a little bit more today. There also seems to be a slight yellow tint to the discharge as well. We have no idea if she has passed her mucus plug yet. She is sleeping a lot, her stomach and back are twitching a lot, and she's not really interested in food. She will follow me around if I get up, and rub up against us and meow at us to pet her. It looks like she swallowed a football to be honest and she ADORES her belly being rubbed (but only when she's pregnant. Don't try to rub her belly when she's not).

The day she got out of the house was February 26th.. and not too long ago my boyfriend informed me she got out of the house AGAIN (while I wasn't there) a week or two after the first incident. So going by a 65 day average, she should be due between May 1st and the 11th.

The first time she gave birth, was in the middle of the night and my boyfriend was asleep and didn't notice any signs of her going into labor other than he got up to go to the bathroom, and when he came back, she was laying on his bed and her water broke.

And yes, after this litter we are getting her spayed as soon as the kittens are 8-10 weeks of age.

But I need help... how far along does she seem? And what should I be expecting when she starts contractions? I've researched a lot on google, but of course, Miley (my cat) is an exception to the rules.

Thanks for anything you guys can help with!!

Can you post a picture? It's hard to tell without seeing her!

If you estimate she should be due any day, then she should be due any day. Make sure you have everything you need prepared, kitchen scale, kmr, etc. since this isn't her first litter, she could have more than last time :) welcome to the site

This is Miley

This is her. And not too long ago she meowed really loud, I looked up, and she was in the position like she was about to be mounted.. (where her butt is in the air and she's on her hind tippy toes I guess).

She got up, meowed a lot at me, ate very little food, drank A TON of water and layed back down.

And I just rested my hand on her stomach, and the babies are kicking like crazy! I'm really hoping tonight is the night! I have 12 hour clinicals Tuesday and Wednesday :(

It sounds like she may be in stage one labor. She's getting very close if not.

Do you have a nest set up for her?

What became of the kittens from her first litter? And what will you do with these kittens?

You need to keep her in, as well as plan to spay her when the kittens are 8 weeks old, and no later.

Her nest is all set up!!

In her first lutter, she only had 2 kittens. Sadly, one of them was stillborn :( we kept the one that survived.. his name is Beau.

And from the kittens from this litter, we plan on adopting them out to family and friends we know will take care of them.

And she's getting spayed no matter what. She's an indoor cat only, just two nights she got out due to the stupidity of others.

She's so sweet. Is Beau neutered?

You may also want to buy some kitten supplies. A scale, powdered kmr, and a needleless syringe are all very helpful.

When you're ready, check out your local Humane Society. They usually offer low-cost spays and neuters. [emoji]128522[/emoji]

A friend told my boyfriend about the certificates from Friends of Animals or something so we got those... a vet in the area participates, we just need to make up the difference for the surgery.

Just making sure you know that mom can get pregnant again within a week of delivery and without going into heat, so she really does need to be kept away from Beau until they are both fixed.  Even if he hasn't shown interest yet, he will any time now.  In addition, Beau will be fertile for up to a month after neutering, so care must be taken even then.

If beau is a year old and is not neutered, he could actually be the father. Cats don't mind mating with family members, they don't have the same morals we do. Are you sure about when she mated and that it wasn't with beau?

I will! Thank you!
And waves are now visible in her stomach and she almost just threw up.. does that mean she's closer now?
