So, after getting over a cold I had (which made me get asthma) I returned to the shelter once again and got to meet some new cats as well as see the progress being made. The Cat ICU was completely empty today!!!! I think that is the first time I have ever seen it that way. The Cat ICU is for new arrivals going through Quarantine or for cats that are sick or injured. Its been emptied out in order to make room for the kitten season.

Here is a picture of Hastings from a few weeks ago. He is still with us, the poor guy. Maybe his missing fur throws some people off, but he is a sweet, light-weight, but healthy boy and his fur is growing back.

Here are three kittens that got adopted out quickly (probably sent to the pet-store that works with our shelter for adoption). I gave them a blanket to rest on and gave them a little bit of cuddles too. From left to right is Sturges, Edgar and Welch.

Here's another kitten that got adopted out quickly, his name was Bashford. There was another with him, a black and white female named Elliot.

Rags letting me pet him (just before he bit me. He has a bad habit of doing that). He likes to yowl for you and then bite and swat at you just for fun. Silly boy.

Sturges saying hello with a stretch. The others were a little more shy.

Beauhcar I believe? He's such a beautiful color! I've never seen a cat quite his color before. And he's a silly little goofball also.

Scampi is a very friendly stray cat who had a hematoma (blood filling the space between the skin of his ear) which was operated on with great success and he is now up for adoption.

Here he is saying hello from his resting spot in the Cat Room.

Trinket showing off her beautiful colors. I love her pattern, its like marbling.

Bailey is a shy girl who is in the Cat Room up for adoption.

London or Shrimpy, I'm not sure which, but she is a girl and those are the only two names for girl cats I didn't recognize. She really is a little thing, so she might be Shrimpy. She's a sweet-heart though

Aida, Rupert, Peggy and Rags are in the main room, probably because they don't get along with certain cats in the Cat Room.

Forrester is in one of the Connections Room because of aggression towards people.

Moo, a cat, is still in foster.

Mr. Cool is still in his extra soft cage for his sore paw pads.

Ginseng is still in boarding.

Couldn't help but add a picture of our cat, Nym. Such a handsome dude!

And of course Genny, sitting with all the tools on her piece of carpet (its set there just for her).

I'll update more later.   : )

So, some of the past and present photos jumbled together for this up-date. It's been busy at my own house because of it being time for all the chicks to start hatching. I have to make sure that multiple hens in individual crates/pens/rooms get food and water and that all their chicks are safe all the while assisting the chicks in the incubator to dry-off and strengthen up enough to join their siblings in the brooder. But enough about chicks, on to the cats.
My silly boy Rags, begging for wet-food (even though he has dry). Yeah, he's a bit of a goofball. He likes to be petted but will suddenly bite you for no apparent reason while you are petting him. Guess that's just his personality.

Boodle, giving a sleepy face. I'm pretty sure he has been adopted. He's the little orphan kitten that had just opened his eyes when he first came in. Now he has a forever home.  : )

Two kittens winking off their sleep.

Mumsy and her three kittens. She was dropped off at the shelter but is so sweet and trusting, nursing her kittens right in front of me. Her kittens names are Ash, Dusky and Ebony. One of our kittens from one of our cats was named Ebony also.   : )

Scampi, asking for some love. He was very, very active when he asked for attention, as in walking in circles and falling over and standing up again. Silly boy. He's now in the cat-room, waiting for adoption.

Here he is.  : )

Hastings, chilling out in a comfy cat tree.

Not sure if this is London, Shrimpy or possibly even Memo. I never got to see his collar as it was time for me to go and I could only snap a real quick photo of him/her. I'm pretty sure its a girl though, so I'm guess London is her name.

Thompson, a large male tabby-cat, trying to fit in a tiny hide-cave.

Bailey, being a shy girl.

Again, not quite sure of the name. But he/she is a pretty kitty! (or handsome

Hastings chilling in the cat room. No, he is not using the sink as a bathroom.  : )

The TV with sounds and videos of rodents, playful cats, and birds for the cats (and of course people) to enjoy. After all, why put rocking chairs in if its not for people to enjoy too?

Bashford, looking so adorable.

Sasuke the Siamese, right after he got neutered. Yep, he's still out of it.

Elliot, peeking through the bars to see who it is. She got adopted as well. Her nose has a cute little hour-glass/exclamation mark on it.

Edgar and Welch, chilling.

Mumsy nursing her kittens while one of them smiles for the camera.

Two kittens playing.  : )

And looking really, really cute too. Love the black mark on the nose, our cat, Pygmy, had that too.

Pretty sure this is Beauhar, if that is how it's spelled.

Stachy, chlling in the cat-room.

Beauhcar, stretching as he wakes up to pose for a picture.

I wonder if the black cat Mr cool has pododermatitis aka pillow foot. My cat has it, and along with her paw pads being very mushy and soft, they also occasionally bleed. They are all so adorable, best of luck, I hope they all find the loving homes they deserve

Kitten season is in full swing and kittens are coming in and out as they are dropped-off, fostered, brought back for adoption, and then adopted (or brought to the pet store that works with us to be adopted-out). So many different cute faces, colors, personalities, stories, and ages. We've got anything from bottle-babies to kittens just shy of adoption age (meaning they will be old enough to be fixed, vaccinated, dewormed, and fully weaned).

Right now our shelter isn't over-run with cats, but it is filling up with kittens. We've got Aida and Rupert in the Entrance room, since they don't like other cats and so need to be kept out of the Cat-room. The kittens often go there too, since they are what everyone wants to see and because they probably wouldn't do to well in a room full of stuffy adult cats.  : )

Then we've got Ginseng who is being boarded in the back, Mr. Cool who is working through his issue with swollen paws, Hailey (on bite quarantine), and Fencer (an FIV positive old dude with cataracts but a sweet personality). In the Cat Room we have Peggy (who also spends time in the front room or connections room because she can be a little nasty with other cats when bored), Trinket, Shrimpi, London, Thompson, Rags, Stachey, Bailey, and Memo.

It's nice to know that Tessa, Hastings, Sazuki, Honda, Peaches, and Toyota all got adopted.  : )

Moo, Mumsy and her three kittens are in foster right now, as are the five kittens I am bottle feeding (Cash, Kai, Bee, Ollie, and Trouble), Sirius, Vader, Steve and Steve's friend (a little black and white kitten whose name I don't know). Boodle is up for adoption in the front, as are Elliot, Welch and a few other kittens. In the Surgery/Hospital room we've got two sickly kittens, Fred and Rambo. Fred is still very thin and weak, but Rambo is starting to liven up and eat on his own. Both are at weaning age but miss their mother's milk, since they were just recently separated from her (we don't know how, they came in because they were found alone and sick).

In the back we've got a few older kittens that don't have names (one is black and the other is black and white). Steve and his buddy were also in there because they needed to be seen by the vet for runny droppings (an issue many orphaned kittens have. Either that or constipation).

At PetSmart we've got some cats waiting to be adopted as well. Tressa, Talulah, Twinkle, Mazda and Nissan. They usually go pretty fast at the pet-store, so that's nice that they have that chance.

I'll try to post some pictures soon.  : )

I apologize if you already answered this, but where is the shelter you volunteer for located? Trinket looks just like my grandma's cat that recently passed, she would get a kick out of seeing her, she looks exactly the same as her beloved skittles.if you were located in Georgia I'd adopt her no problem. Good luck finding them homes, they're all beautiful

Trinket is a beauty. However, we're all the way up in Ohio. Skittles sounds like she was a lovely cat too.   : )

Some update photos of the cats at our shelter.

Tressa is the white cat and Twinkle is the orange and white with a brown smudge above her eye. This is the same two that can be seen earlier when they were just little guys. Tressa is deaf because of her white coloration.

Musmy and her three kittens after a few weeks of fostering. They are still all together and sweet as can be.

Angeldust, a shy black and white female with polydactyly paws.

Steve is the black and white kitten and Collin is the orange. They came back in from fostering because they weren't feeling too well, but hopefully they be doing better soon. Collin has some issues with respiratory infections and is skinny for his age. his little tufted ear tips are so cute though!

Rambo is doing much better, though his eyes are still getting over his infection. He is lively, eating on his own, and hopefully gaining some weight.  : )

Fred is still sick and skinny and is in his own cage because Rambo was too energetic for him. He is eating on his own with encouragement but still very stuffed up.

Steve showing off his flat little face and bug-eyes.  So cute!!

Collin got his own heat-pad to sleep on to help keep him warm and he seemed to enjoy it a lot.

Weasel, a female black kitten with runny eyes but otherwise good weight and healthy body. She is a little shy, like her siblings, but sweet all the same.

Three healthy black kittens named Zeke, Vader and Sirius are nearing adoption age.

Copycat, Weasel's sister, showing off her extra toes and shy personality as she hides in her litter-box.

Rags saying hello. He is spending some time in the cat room, but other times he is a bully and comes back up into the Lobby in his own enclosure so the others can get a break from the big dude. He is probably twice the size of poor little Shrimpy.

Memo, playing with a toy and giving a silly cat smile. He has such handsome green eyes.  : )

Bailey, stretching as she comes out of her cozy den to say hello. She is making progress, not nearly as shy as before, though a little picky about when she lets you pet her.

Trinket, grooming me back when I petted her. She is such a sweetie.

Stachey, not sure if he wants the camera near him or not.

London, sitting by the sink with a sleepy face. She has pretty grey markings on her head but a white body.

Peggy, playful and a little bit of a bully to the other cats, she just loves to run around and be a silly girl. She also loves attention.

Fencer, saying hello. Because I handle the other cats there, I can't really pet him since I don't want to spread any diseases between them. Hopefully he can find a good home to go to that doesn't mind that he has FIV.

Angeldust, curious to see what is going on. I gave them a blanket to snuggle on and they were all afraid to touch it, the silly things. So curious and yet so cautious.

I'll try to update again soon (and show pictures of my little foster kittens too  : )

They're all lovely, but I'm totally smitten with this little guy. I have two FIV+ cats and 21 who are FIV-. There is very little chance of them spreading the disease to each other once they're all spayed and neutered and getting along well together.

I hope Fencer finds a home soon, he has such an adorable face.

If I didn't live so far away.............

If you don't mind my asking,What is FIV-? Just meaning that they don't have FIV? I've been trying to help find a home for a FIV+ kitty, he's beautiful, 3yrs old with a black smoke coloring. It's so hard to find someone willing to take cats like him in. :(

Yes, that's what it means. The cats all had a blood test and it came back negative. I've been caring for my older FIV+ cat for more than five years now. My cats are from a former feral colony that have been TNR'd and the older FIV+ male is the father of at least two of the younger cats. I know people are wary of taking in a cat that has been infected with FIV, but it's not as easily transmitted as people seem to think.

Have you seen this?

Pictures of my foster kittens!  : )

This right here is adorable little, sweet Bee. She is so playful and sweet and cuddly, loves to roll over and ask for her tummy tickled. She also gets jealous when I pay attention to other kittens and not her.

Cuddled up in their blanket (which is their nest) are Ollie (Oliver) and Bee.

Tiny and so cute! This is Cash, once one of the biggest and now the runt. He had trouble learning how to latch onto the nipple on the bottle, but he's getting the hang of it. He loves to fall asleep while being held or petted (though honestly the kittens aren't quite into being petted yet, they just like to eat).

Bee, showing off how cute she is when snuggled with her siblings.

And Bee again, drinking from the bottle. I switch bottles around as I clean them, but I always reuse their favorite nipple, since it produces just the right flow of milk for their age. The bit of red on her and me is dye, not blood, so don't worry about that.  : )

Cash, drinking from the baba as well.

And looking so cute. Cash has a white spot on his back and a larger blaze then Bee, which is how to tell them apart.

Ollie has not white, he is an all brown tabby.

They insist on getting to hold my hand or the bottle while nursing, though their claws are so sharp that it HURTS!

One of the two black kittens. It can be hard to tell them apart, but Kai has a larger, flatter, lighter nose and a white spot on his stomach while Trouble has no white spot and a smaller, darker nose. Kai also has more prominent striping that shows through his black coat, though this may change. Trouble use to be the smaller of the two, but he has since out-grown his sibling for the time being (just as with Bee and Cash).

Things are going very well at our shelter. We've had over 20 cat adoptions this month alone, not counting the 10 or so dog adoptions. Some of these adoptions include Talulah, Twinkle, Tress, Stachey, Welch, Trinket, Elliot, Mazda, Angeldust, Naomi, Nutmeg, Boodle, Vader, and I'm pretty sure Edgar.

Still available are Shrimpi, London, Thompson, Bailey, Peggy, Ajak, Memo, possibly Zeke and Sirius (they may have been adopted), Aida, Rags and Rupert.

Awaiting the go-ahead for adoption are Fencer, Hailey, Copycat, Weasel, Nash, Newton, Dusky, Ebony, Ash, Mumsy, Mr. Cool, Fred, Rambo, Collin, Steve, my five kittens, Moo, and a new black and white kitten that came in a couple days ago near death (he is doing much better, thankfully).

Ginseng remains in boarding and Mumsy's three kittens have recently gotten a cold and need to get over it before they can be ready for adoption.

Update photo time:

This here is adorable, playful little Bee. She is the first of the kittens to use the litterbox all by her self. Yay!

Ollie playing with Bee.

Dusky or Ebony getting some love at the shelter.

Newton, one of the new kittens

My five are starting to walk instead of toddle, show off some actual grooming skills, and even try stalking. They are also getting their balancing instincts and play-fighting behavior. They are getting very cute, but also eating a bottle and a half or even two bottles a feeding session. They went all night last night without a meal, so I finally got a full nights sleep. It was very nice. And they were very hungry and noisy by morning.  : )

Naomi and her sister (in the backround) Nutmeg. Both have been adopted already.

Nutmeg showing off her big, green eyes.

I believe this is Trouble, happily feeding off the bottle. He could probably drink half a bottle all by himself, the little pig.

Fred, the little sick blue kitten, is doing WAY better and showing off his playful, rambunctious side. He should be ready for adoption in a few weeks.

Cash has finally mastered feeding off a bottle, though he is still the smallest and the weakest of the five, he is feeding very well. He is also the only one not having runny droppings right now.

In this photo he is feeding on my knees because otherwise the other kittens try to steal the bottle from him and end up scratching me all up. Their claws are SOO sharp.

Nash, Newton's brother, the more curious and bold of the two.

Such lovely kittens.

I used to have a kitten called Bee, she was one of a litter of three that I managed to coax indoors while I was TNR'ing a feral colony a few years ago. She looks so much like your Bee.

She went to live with a nice family in Tokyo, along with another rescued kitten. She's almost three years old now.

She's beautiful! And you're right, she does look a lot like my Bee. I'm glad you gave her such a wonderful chance at a good life.  : )

I'm just curious, what happened with the little orange/white tabby with the black N above her eye.  She was sweet.
I really wish I would have gotten her name down, all I know is that one sibling was Tressa and the other was Twinkle, so likely the last two had names starting with T also (possibly Talulah and Trinity). I believe she and her siblings went to the Petsmart that works with our shelter and got adopted to a forever home.  : )

She really did have a cool color. I've never seen anything quite like it before. Almost like Harry Potter's scar.

Great images but they make me sad and I get that lump in the throat. I wish I could take everyone of them in.

I hope people get their cats spayed and neutered and PLEASE support you local shelter. They can use money but towels, food, litter and even some of your time will help. I can not work in the shelter as it breaks my heart but I bring food and litter every week along with a monthly donation. It is all worth it to see a family leave with a little furry kitty or cat.

Boodle was adopted.  : )

An adorable playful little kitten that was awaiting the go-ahead for adoption. He now has a forever home.  : )

Cash when I first got him two weeks ago.

Cash getting older

Bee, chewing on my finger instead of the bottle.

Either Trouble or Kai.

Bee playing on my lap like a silly girl. She is so sweet and adores being the center of attention.

Domino, the sick kitten that was brought in unable to lift his head he was so weak. He is making progress, though still not feeling well.

Mac, another new kitten. He obviously has some Siamese in there with that wedge-shaped head and huge ears.

Cash, Bee and Ollie playing together in their "nest".

Bee with Oliver, showing the progress they have made in size and strength.

My kittens reached their four week old mark and boy are they just so cute and playful and lively. They can't actually accomplish anything in their play, they got got their teeth after all, but it is so adorable!!!

Each had an individual personality from day one, but it is really neat to see them shining through more and more each day. There is Kai, half the time the one to watch from the side-lines and the other half the time the cry-baby of the family.

Trouble turns out not to be so troublesome as he is the largest of the bunch and the teddybear, eating and then sleeping.

Cash is the tag-along, tough enough to keep up even in his small size. Being the runt means being willing to get into sticky situations to prove yourself, and he is the best when it comes to wrestling his siblings to the ground.

Bee is the silly little show-off, the star of the show. She likes to be the center of attention or she isn't happy. She will run up to you and rub against your face and roll over and kick her little paws in the air just to make you laugh.

Ollie, the last of the bunch, is the tender little dude. He is thoughtful, hesitant, easily frightened but willing to try out new things. He will sit and watch the others play from a corner before joining, and he likes to sit near to you and just observe. He is also the first one to show tail-fluffing behavior when surprised.

I'll try to get some more pictures up soon.  : )
